I bet Kwok destroyed Fyrons webhost to boost traffic to his site

It was a precision strike with some High-Energy Magnfier III's (+30 to hit) to take out the server. Overall, the plan is starting to work as yesterday ended the current downhill slide for visits. Mo ha ha ha!
Nah, not really. Although starting to miss the forums at SE.net - have lots of interesting stuff to post in the forums!

Re: Any Word On SE.net\'s Return?
Content loss is going to hurt us again though. Last time we have a major melt down of Fyrons Host, he lost a years worth of info.

Must be backed up on 12 servers all around the world (including secret orbital data havens) every hour, encrypted and immediately burned to DVDs. That's what I call "fault-tolerant system".

Re: Any Word On SE.net\'s Return?
I have found evidence Kwok is indeed behind the destruction of SpaceEmpires.net. I have found the motive!
From his website:
Quote:
28 February 2005:
Captain Kwok's Space Empires Depot has been the first site uploaded to my new domain here at www.captainkwok.net. Make sure you update your bookmarks and links! Look for the Space Food Empires website to make the hop over shortly. It's exciting because I now have more space and bandwidth so I can add some downloads and more content. Look out Spaceempires.net because your title as #1 in all of space empires is nearing the end!
|
Then 5 days later, SE.net goes offline! I'm on to you Kwok!

Encryption means you not only need the data, you also need the key.
Burning it plaintext onto the lunar regolith with a Giant DVD laser, on the other hand...
