Re: SEV Betatest...
The new website is nice, but on my 1680x1050 widescreen display, the top graphic ("Malfador Machinations") wraps around.

The two will hover, spinning inches above the ground. With a giant buttered cat array, a high-speed monorail could easily link New York with Chicago.

1680 wide? omg, downsize man, I only tested it to 1600x1200.
lol, and now you know the downside of 'bleeding edge'
Cheers!

It's a widescreen display (16x9, not 4x3). Its getting fairly common on laptops, at least the one I got. It's actually really sweet, because movies look good on it, and you can just plain see more... thing is some video games have less than optimal support for it.

Re: SEV Betatest...
Looking at the pics on the site and a couple of notes:
1.) Maintenance on facilities
http://www.malfador.com/SE5scr004.htm
There aren't any currently, are there? Would make a resource limited game quite interesting.
2.) Asteroids - Occlusion
http://www.malfador.com/SE5scr006.htm
I guess that will replace "condition" allowing only certain size ships to pass through the sector? (Can you hide a fleet of smaller ships inside?)

3.) Using a Warp Point in Tactical Combat
http://www.malfador.com/SE5scr007.htm
Could you possibly flee through the warp point (icon on bottom right of options)?

Re: SEV Betatest...
GritEcon has facilities cost maintenance.
Its not as fun as I'd hoped though.

My bet would be "occlusion" refering to sight obstruction. Like the storms and nebulas do in SE4.
