				 Dumb question on purchased version.
Okay I did a search on this, but I appologize if I missed it.

When we get the CD's it will basically be the same software as you can download now (as per the instructions from the download area of the website). Will it be a patch on the CD that we can unlock the extra features with then?

Just morbid curiosity. I am VERY much looking forward to getting WinSPMBT in the mail. I loved the original SP, SP2, and SP3 and not too long ago I was very encouraged to see that someone had undertaken a labor of love to add and refine the original games. Imagine my delight to find that not only was the team continuing their work, but they were adding in even more features/details and Windows support. I think even if there were no differences between the purchased and free version of WinSPMBT I'd probably have bought it just because of the replayability and sheer amount of gaming that I've gotten from the series.

Thanks guys--keep up the good work!

It's a different version.Or to be more precise (hopefully), it's a different build of the same version, with certain features enabled at compile-time.

 Just another two dumb question:
1.Is it really a diferent version? I was thinking it was the same gameplay but with a few enhacements on the graphics and editor departments

 2. Do I will need the cd inserted in the drive in order to play? or it is going to be used just for the install and then you can store it?

Re: Dumb question on purchased version.
Going back to the different version thing, and it's certainly not a big deal, but that means we loose our saved games, scenerios, etc. True, we can back these up first, but I'm hoping it's not going to be like that.
However, that said, I'm okay with it either way. If I had a penny every time I started a new SP game, scenerio, etc I'd be a rich man!

 | 1) The CD version will be the same release level as the current download.

2) Installing the CD version over a current downloaded version will nuke any PBEM games in progress - so finish any of those that are ongoing.

You SHOULD be able to install the CD version over an existing download installation, with the provisos that any PBEM game information will be toast, however any ongoing regular game saves will (should!) be OK, and any new maps, scenarios you created will be OK, as should any custom OOBS in the correct custom OOBS folders (the default and backup defaul OOBS will of course overwrite any you had in there ! . However - If doing so I would back up your new content (maps, scenarios, U/Campaigns, custom OOBS) before trying it, just in case!.

3) We will be releasing a patch for both versions shortly. This will bring both up to 1.2x level. The patch will have OOB fixes, code fixes etc, so will definately destroy any ongoing PBEM game in progress, so again - wrap up any PBEM game in progress before patching. Patch release will hopefully be in approximately 2 weeks.

Cheers
Andy

Re: Dumb question on purchased version.
Very cool, thanks Andy. I'm not doing any PBEM yet so I "should" be okay there then.

And if not, I'll just start another scenerio of the many great ones that I want to try. Too much goodness...not...enough...time! Heh, thanks again.

 | No CD required in the drive, only for the installation.

Cheers
