The common factor is that you are using flame weapons on a target. So, you are seeing the internal code for "flame attack".

At that point in the code, the final penetration result (based on the HEAT value etc) for a flame weapon is not known, just that it's a flame thrower and so can penetrate armour.

If you kill the target the later code will have determined that the F/T hit was enough to do the job. But by then it is way past the point where the penetration message (which was for debug purposes originally but was offered for user interest) can be displayed.

Thanks for the swift reply Mobhack. Can you say whether warhead size matters, and so explain the (apparent) lower lethality for M202 sice its change?
