And live in your dorm room like its some cave to hide away your life in in order to avoid the rest of the world. Only venturing out for classes and the occational trip home to do laundry.

The best advise to any one is to make as many GOOD friends as you can while away at college. The kind of friendships that last a life time. You never know when one of them can help you get a great job, introduce you to the right people, or be their when you need them. Going to college is the first step in building a career so don't muck it up by hiding away in your dorm room. Just know your limits, keep your focus on learning, but enjoy yourself.

If you don't drink alcohol, it's best to find friends who won't shove drinks in your face.

Its ok to have friends who drink but know limits. Those who live to drink have no limits and often are not good friends.
