Back in what was it, 1998 - when Don was trying to get me onto the project, he sent his camo mods file to me. (I had heard of it but had not got to loading it yet).

Until then you had an "electric" lime green, a mud brown, and a zany electric blue-grey used by the Germans. And that was about it. We had been used to that in SP1, SP2 and SP3.

I loaded the camo mod, and was totally gobsmacked! - needless to say, I got on board the project that evolved into SP2WW2!

Perhaps we should upload a few snapshots of a few units in the original "colour" schemes since maybe some folk never played the game back in 96 or so?.

Nothing against the original colour - when the demo for SP1 came out on a game mag CD I played it for a weekend solid (the demo allowed the WW2 LC, the only restriction I recall was no scenario editor, and that all elevations were ignored - you could shoot through hills ) and it was the nearest thing I had seen to 1/300 models on the PC screen. So I ordered the game from a mail-order firm (It was not available in the shops anywhere) on the Monday.

There is a 256 colour palette, and some of that is removed from play as it is for use as colour cycling items. What Don has managed to do with that restricted palette (and the work he has gone into in refining the set over the years), never fails to amaze me.

Cheers
Andy

Im playing this game from begining (started with SP1) I do remember old icons for SP2 those new are light years away.Im not telling that Dons work isnt perfect, i just dont like those T-72 icons (2672,2673) becouse they looks too flat, and this light color is too glowy. What about add some cammo, to make them look more like those icons for PT-91? But if that will delay a patch, then forget about it,i will replace those icons in mobhack editor with others avaiable...

keep up good work!

As I said...."There are, however, new Icons in the patch for some of the earlier T-72's "

And when you install the patch you will find some of them ,co-incidentally, in the Slovakian OOB

2672 and 2673 are not my Icons. They are based on my Icons but the paint job is not mine. The are, I belive, Blazej Ciepluch's.

Czesc as I saw you hate my icons

DRG has right this icons was modified by me from Orginal SPcamo icons with small modifications like searchligh etc. They represents a polish green camo. This camo is more bright than standart Warsaw pact. I thinking today the same what you when I see this icons and another in this light green camo: Are to bright. So if I have plenty of time I planed make more darker icons to replace this and another with this polish camo because I saw in reality a polish military vehicles and are more darker. But are a little more lighter than rusian colors. I do this too a more "3D". Be patient that was one from my first icon arts and I'm not good in this like another for example this new Arjun tanks are a swift masterpice for me. I don't want use a green color from PT-91 because is here for simulate emerald green what is not included in game palete but used by polish army but only in emerald green - black - brick red camo. I thing the best color for replace this bright green should be a green from icon 2677. That schould be nice if you replace this icons what you write before and them post them in polish camo topic.

I have same idea: New topic when you can posts your improved existing icons with number of icon to replace. SPCAMO can see that and make a decision for replace or not.

I dont hate your icons, only those two, dont take it personal.Your other work is really great,I tryed make icons for SP2 and SPMBT, and i know how hard it is. I must dissapoint you, i didnt mean that i will replace them with my own work, i mean that it is not too hard to swap them for others avaiable T-72s. I stopped all my work on my own icons after i saw Don and your work...
