Re: Multiple attacks on Commander question
The Fenris Pelt (or some such) summons once at the beginning. Soulstone auto-summons once, and then can cast Howl each turn, if scripted to do so.
The free Call of the Wild each turn is pretty nice - but the in-battle usage is what makes it so great, all those wolves coming at the enemy mages from all directions.

Re: Multiple attacks on Commander question
Not sure I'd say it was overpowered. Powerful, sure, and as Zen noted, under-rated. But look at ... The gate stone, the flying ship, the Ark, the Chalice, the Hammer of the Forge Lord : I'd argue that both of those are more powerful in terms of altering game play and situations. For instance : 200 devils and other top-notch summonings teleporting on top of your armies at whim, leaving before there can be much retribution - I'd say that has a lot more impact than a bunches of scrawny wolves.

Re: Multiple attacks on Commander question
true, but use a bunch of them together a reasonably tough commander with amon hotep is almost untouchable but simply add to that boots of quickness, the gate stone and the soulstone of the wolves. very hard to put together but once assembled you have a VERY hard to kill commander who can teleport around at will (with an army if desired) and spam an insane amount of wolves

Re: Multiple attacks on Commander question
you actually don't have to script it to cast spells, it casts howl every turn all on its own.

Re: Multiple attacks on Commander question
amon hotep is overpowered because it combines invulnerability with high magic resistence and awe. The fact that it can also give you a free mummy each turn is just an added bonus.

Re: Multiple attacks on Commander question
amon hotep is nowhere near as useful as soulstone. all the others are nice, and useful, but nothing combines both very valuable ritual attacks and the most overwhelming battlefield magic. Its always amongst the very first artifacts to be forged... the others, like gatestone and amon hotep, can stay around being unbuilt for ages.

Re: Multiple attacks on Commander question
Arguably, that's because it's rarer to have the magic paths required for gatestone and amon hotep - you almost have to have astral on your pretender, and most people avoid that because of the Magic Duel issue. (But I know I often plan to get those in a long term game )
