Cosmetic, unless you play a mod with seekers targetting seekers. In this case, it is crucial to be crash-free.

Although, in the case of a seeker-vs-seeker mod, only the Host, who processes the turn needs Deluxe.

Once the game is processed, gold should be enough to play your turn with.

About those bug fixes... As I've mentioned elsewhere lately, I've recently arrived from the dark ages (version 1.49). In that version there was a bug that didn't allow weapons platforms to work right in PBW. I see that's been fixed. There was also a bug that didn't allow use of both seekers and direct-fire weapons on the same ship. I've been designing ships as though that still exists, just in case. Has that bug been fixed in (or before) Deluxe?

There was a bug for this? I remember using Seeking Parasites with Plasma Discharges (seeker and direct-fire organic tech) way back in pre-Classic beta. Hmmm...

But anyway, in both Gold and Deluxe, it is very possible to use both seekers and direct fire weapons on the same ship. Carrier Battles is sort of built around that, after all

Those are both organic tech. That always worked okay. If you tried putting a capital ship missle with, say DUCs, things went haywire and one or the other wouldn't fire.
