Yes plenty of models, but many are in the polygon range of low thousands to tens of thousands. Most polys we would need or want for a SEV model is at most 1000 polys, and less than 500 would probably be better...

Converting existing models to lower poly is not an easy chore...from what I hear...I dont have any first hand experience...

There are automatic algorithms to merge/cull extraneous polygons. They are usually pretty good, so only minimal hand-tuning would be needed for most cases.

You could always ask the Galciv 2 modders if you can use theirs, I'm pretty sure they have some low polys

battlestar Galactica shipset (yes only 2)
b5 shipset
starwars shipset
and if ya get lazy then ya work on a Startrek shipset

oh ya work on not only the mods but I would like to see some Scenarios other then the tutorial i think their was one other for the P&N mod and that was it.

I would like to suggest shipsets based on the Superior Models "Starfleet Wars" line of miniatures. These were produced from the late 70's/early 80's until about 2000, and are now in production again under a new name:

Galactic Knights

Basically there are five fleets with distinctive designs (ok, one of the fleets shows heavy Star Wars Imperial entanglements) for ships ranging from fighters up through superdreadnoughts - even "tactical missiles" that would make dandy drones. I own examples of most of them and could supply digital photos to the enterprising modeller...

The old Starfire miniatures line might also make a suitable base for such a project, if anybody has a set (I don't).
