Default Re: What do you listen to while playing Dom3?

We're old. I love Uriah Heep. I once spent 24 hours straight listening to The Wizard. As it is, I've been listening to the opera channel (on cable). I did have some Johnny Cash on, but it was just a new CD I wanted to listen to. Some songs have come to mind though: Black Sabbath for Ermor Ashen Empire. For Mictlan (esp if you're playing with a vampire queen), the soundtrack to From Dusk 'till Dawn. Jethro Tull's Broadsword for pretty much the game in general. For R'lyeh Aboleths: definitely the trance channel, for Illithids: the theme to Resident Evil, for Dreamlands: Primus, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, Tori Amos, early David Bowie, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience, all at the same time, at slightly different volumes, preferrably in different rooms of a fairly large, empty house, away from each other, so that you can barely, but distinctly, hear each one. Put The (original) Shining on tv in one room, and the Wizard of Oz in another room, away from each other. Set the Dark Side of the Moon to coincide with the Wizard of Oz. The Shining should be set on a timer so it comes on just as Dorothy reaches the door to the Emerald City. It should be louder than the Wizard of Oz, but not so loud that it drowns other things out. When the Shining's over, replace with the Kubrick movie of your choice. Seek psychological help as needed.

Cradle of Filth and Gothminister fit well for Ermor and the likes imho .

Nightwish, Iced Earth and Therion have already been mentioned.

Freedom Call are so nicely clichee, they fit well for e.g. Marignon.

And Vader for Ulm .

Inkkubus Sukkubus work well for Pangea, but mainly I just stick random play on Media Player. I occaisionally get some fitting music (Maiden's Two Worlds Collide just as a bunch of meteors strike the battlefield) but mainly, I get comedy (Click build castle, YMCA starts up...)

Either I listen to the radio, or the game music. I don't tend to play my own music while playing games.

games like Dominions make me want to listen to Tool, but in general i just listen to whatever music is in my CD changer, whi is generally some variant of rock. Big fan of hardcore metal and rap-rock hybrid stuff, or anything with guitars and drums where I can't understand a word the vocalist is vocalizing.

Anybody ever play the old Mac game Castles: Siege & Conquest? That was another game with a great soundtrack. Just a few simple songs that I could listen to forever.
