Re: Pretender: Ultimate Tyrant
Thanks for the feedback
Let me know once your mod is ready. I like Beholders a lot and i guess a Tyrant leading a bunch of Beholders out of the underground is just my taste !

Re: Pretender: Ultimate Tyrant
What I have in mind (vaguely) is Agarthans mainly using beholders for province defense. The beholders will have darkvision and fly, and they'll have the Paralyzation special ability. They'll be extremely expensive, and you'll only get one for PD-if and when we're able to modify PD, I'm hoping to make it so Agarthans get one at every 30 levels of PD. I may or may not make beholders immobile, haven't decided yet.

Re: Pretender: Ultimate Tyrant
I thought about making the Tyrant flying as well, but decided against it. Otherwise, he would be pretty powerful with hold-hold-attack archers or hold-hold-attack rear. In addition, they levitate, they dont fly according to my info. And they arent that fast as well.
On what powerlevel do you see a normal beholder ? Same as a single heavy milita, cavalery, lamia more/less ?

Re: Pretender: Ultimate Tyrant
They do levitate, which is where I got flying from-I want to make underground dangerous for archers, and beholders are one of the dangers. I'm also hoping that some creatures will be Underground-only, like some are Ocean-only. I think beholders are a touch more trouble than lamias. Maybe a little weaker than an unmodified Gorgon pretender, but not much weaker.

Re: Pretender: Ultimate Tyrant
For regular beholders(i dont know a huge amount about them though) i would probably go with your pretenders stats but +2 strength, swap weakening gaze for mind burn(maybe enslave mind) and give disintigrating gaze 15an damage instead of 11 regular(well magic) damage.

Re: Pretender: Ultimate Tyrant
For the beholder's gaze-remember they'll be quite expensive and province-immobile-I was planning on keeping the petrification gaze of the gorgon-which is extremely good, along with a bite. The anti-magic gaze would give them high MR. Prot and Def can be decent, but I think they'd have no more than 15 hp. Flying is an advantage, but it's also a disadvantage, since the beholder has to fly to it's enemies in order to attack them, and then BE attacked in order to use it's gaze. If it could sit back and snipe at enemies with disintegration and enslave mind etc. then it would be even more powerful in some ways, and not much different from an aboleth mindlord.
