Re: Horror of horrors
I gotta set myself to AI this game. School starts back tomorrow and I am in eight games, so I am finding it hard to do my turns for this one and two others because of map size mainly. In this one I am fighting on so many fronts that I cringe when I look at my turn because of the amount of time it will take to do my turns properly.
Good job getting together an alliance consisting of most the server when Tien Chi has almost every unique artifact and Tartarians galore. That must have been some fast talking to convince them I was the real threat. Well played, you deserve the victory you almost certainly have earned through diplomacy unless Mictlan gets their head out of their rear and realizes what is up. Even then I think Tien Chi is going to run away with this one because Mictlan will be fighting multiple allied nations too that have no chance of winning and are praying to be the last eliminated by Tien Chi for whatever reason I don't know.
Was fun, the massive alliance being the only thing that soured it for me seeing how I was a middle of the road nation at the time behind atleast 3 others in power.

Re: Horror of horrors
That sucks man. Ry'leh scares me to be honest. More so than the Giants or a blood gorged Mictlan. Starting location, hanging out on my back door and scales just made me think of potential threat, not necessarily current threat.
I for no reason think I'm an obvious winner by any means, but I will admit that right from the get-go I started currying favors because I thought (still) that you'd be a late game threat.
In truth, there was no "whole server" alliance against you, but there were multiple actions with server wide assistance/acknowledgment/donations - dispels/rewrites. There was also quite a bit of explaining exactly what I was doing, which gave plenty of fodder for further activity "i'm attacking here, here and here... look, I'm NOT attacking here, and here" "or I plan on dispelling xxx, I have xxx gems and going for a xxx cast, if anyone wants to donate let me know"
Saint_Dude says you're a good player, so unfortunately that just fueled my paranoia.
Sucks to see you go, see you in perpetuality.

Re: Horror of horrors
"Your global enchantment has been dispelled." Ha ha ha! At least Foodstamp left us some fireworks to look at. Or did the AI do that?
Sorry to see you go Foodstamp, have fun in your other games!

Re: Horror of horrors
I don't think it was the whole server. Just all the nations that hit me with offensive spells then canceled their NAPs with me. That doesn't include Ctis and Niefelheim.
Yomi felt that I was Mindhunting his commanders during our NAP, so I understand his position, even though his current enemy had great access to astral mages.
Kailasa is just trying to be one of the last to lose, because this is his first MP game.
Mictlan is playing way too conservative and should have been at war with you already. Every turn that he remains at peace with your nation shifts the balance in your favor due to his bless becoming less important.
I always learn from these games and this time just like in "The Middle Way", I made too many friends. I expected those friends would be handy against the stronger opponents later on, I did not expect them to use our NAPs to attack me with impunity.
In one of my first large games I was in an alliance similar to yours and we ended up winning the game and declaring a joint victory. Looking back on that game I realized how boring it was to crush the opposition with the alliance, but I feel like I did it because I was new to the game and was afraid of what the veterans might unleash. So I can't fault you guys for doing the same thing I have done in the past.
I am getting better with R'lyeh. I just need to focus more on a concerted plan towards the end of the game.
Thanks for the great game and I look forward to playing with you guys again in the future. (Maybe on a smaller map because of time limits)

Re: Horror of horrors
VFB, that was me. I dispelled Thetis, then waited for the game to host to make sure it went through. Then went to AI.

Re: Horror of horrors
Well I had really really hoped you were going to wait one more turn as I knew it was coming. I had enough items forged to save most, if not all of my army and 3/4 of my mages. I just needed the lab from that castle to equip them. So great timing.
