Re: Fighting EA R\'leyh
Shark attack+hordes of regenerating sea trolls does provide huge amounts of chaff. If they reach melee with the mind blasters some-how they should take care of them and even if they dont they could still take some hits.

Spamming Earth and Water elementals might work.

Re: Fighting EA R\'leyh
Yes, I have considered spamming elementals. I think I may try that in combination with some uber magic resistant Basalt King decoys out front, and of course a large number of troops in case I actually break through into their troops.

Re: Fighting EA R\'leyh
The problem with elementals is that they come in relatively small numbers, and they show up next to the casting mage. Unless you want all your mages to be in the front line, the elementals are not going to do much good. If the casting mages are further back in the formation, the battle will largely be determined before the elementals see any action or absorb any mind blasts.
I reiterate - Shark Attack is awesome. Not only does it produce huge numbers of deadly sharks, but the sharks show up in the manner of Howl, i.e. they come from all sides. This means that at least a subset bypass the chaff and go right for the rear contingent (mages - mindblasters and the sort). Size and proximity rules will cause them to be targeted preferentially, absorbing huge numbers of mindblasts, and allowing your troops to close into combat.
The previous screenshot that I posted was early in the fight. But the sharks just keep coming (see new attached screenshot to see what I mean).

The shark sure is one scary sprite. That looks like quite a feast for them!

Re: Fighting EA R\'leyh
Nice screenshot Saint. That does look powerful indeed. Sorry, I thought you were talking about school of sharks, which is not very powerful at all. What level is Shark Attack... I've never cast it.

Re: Fighting EA R\'leyh
level 6 conjuration. Not exactly low level, but sure nice when you can cast it.
