Believe me Fyron there is nothing more that I would love to do than to be skillful enough with 3d max than to make dozens of my own ship sets. The truth is I am only just now beginning to grasp the fundamentals of a basic 3d program like max and that is only with outdated freeware versions of other 3d programs.

Just wait ~ five months for Spore... all the 3D editors in that game output to a Maya compatible format, fully rigged and textured. The vehicle and UFO editors should be a great tool for ship sets...
