Re: TCP/IP Games...
DSL itself shouldn't be a problem. Firewalls (especially NAT firewalls) will be, until you manage to make a working rule to allow it.
It's not just a protocol problem. The testers did manage to run TCP/IP games successfully over the Internet, for those not behind firewalls.

yeah, I know it's a firewall problem. But I'm just trying to figure out how to get by that, I've opened up the ports needed to run the game but it still won't work. Can't figure it out.

Re: TCP/IP Games...
I'm trying to run this game with a friend of
mine, who's using the same DSL provider as me.
The IP-Adresss given out from SEIV seems to be
a local one (winipcfg/ipconfg says something
different).
So we tried to ping and got a response. The one
who's server will get a message that the user
connected and the client will get could not
connect to server after awhile.
If you retry, the client will get the same
error message and the client will see the
client logged in twice!?
Maybe someone can help ?

When I use ipconfig it shows my ip addy, my Subnet Mask and default gateway... I use ip addy since that's what most likely I need to use right?... No one ever answered me, but any of ya'll know how to configure or whatever both protocols on the Firewall? For the two ports that is.

You would use the IP. However if you are on a home network router/hub you will probably have an internal IP address local to your home network. Possibly starting with 192.
Somebody connecting over the Internet should put in your DSL modem's IP instead.
For firewalls set ports 6716 and 6720 to allow unrestricted incomming and outgoing for protocols udp and tcp. A router would also need to forward these ports to your internal IP on home net.

Re: TCP/IP Games...
BTW we will probably be releasing a patch in the next week or so from the latest beta and it will have some things to help solve some of the confusion with TCP/IP games.
