Re: Important notice for PBW Users.

Well, Ohio is a crossroads in many ways; that's part of why things end up here. It's a crossroads of urban and rural--unlike, say, California, which is either urban, desert, or national park, or Nebraska, where the word "urban" has no meaning. My own hometown (Toledo) is 1) the second-largest freshwater port in the US (by traffic volume) after Chicago; 2) home of the largest grain elevators in the world because of all the corn that comes through here; 3) a major railway hub for grain, coal, and cars, among other things; 4) the cross-point of the the most heavily-trafficked east-west highway in the US (I-80) and one of the most heavily-trafficked north-south highways (I-75); 5) 1 hour from Detroit, 2.5 from Cleveland, 3 from Cincinatti, 4 from Chicago, 5.5 from Pittsburgh.Quote:

Ohio's right in the center of everything, which of course makes us both a gravitational well [b]and[/a] a bit of a cloaca. But remember that a cloaca passes not only waste, but also new life.

Hey now, you people up there in Michigan may be Cloaca's, but don't be lumping us in with you.
Of course I have no idea what a Cloaca is, but if it passes waste, I wan't no part of it.

A cloaca is a bird's Version of both bathroom ends. And "that other function" too

Re: Important notice for PBW Users.
hmmmmm, GT those cities you mention are all either out west or in the south except for Boston, I think you need to allievate some of your misconceptions of our great Midwest, come on, where else can you play baseball in sleet and snow come April, h... the lake doesn't even thaw out until May, you've never seen anything until you've seen polution seep up thru the ice on the lake and rivers with the sun's rays hitting and radiating it back into the atmosphere with all those different and unusual colors. And remember, Burke Lake Airport, which is on the Lake here in Cleveland, was built on top of a Land fill where they used to burn garbage... Brings back memories of when I was a kid and my dad used to drive past it on the way to Euclid Beach Park....the smoke and smells are beyond the ability to describe..
In reality, Ohio's not that bad a place to be, it does have many good points especially in the bouncing ba-ba-loos department

Re: Important notice for PBW Users.
Hmmm.... as the token European on this particular post and English to boot, it would seem that even you damned yankees have differing views about Ohio vis a vis its contribution to the planet as a global heritage site.
The net conclusion is that it is a bit of a stinker, has an affinity to an amphibian's naughty bits and is a place with a stack of young fillies who are enhanced in the jubbly department (or is Mac just fantasizing again?)

Hmmm.. Mac, Boston is pseudo-European in ts outlook, as are many of the southern cities so it is only natural I would be attracted that way. I lived for 9 months in San Franscisco and liked it a lot, but then I was living wit my pop idol at the time and got use to seeing transvestities before breakfast

Conclusion - Madrid = great, Cleveland = yuk unless you like grain elevators

If by "fishing tackle shops" you mean, sleezy porn stores, I whole-heartedly agree.

Re: Important notice for PBW Users.
Heh, actually GT the grain elevators are in Toledo, not Clevland. But what's 120 miles, er sorry 190 kilometers between friends. Roughly the distance fom London to Birmingham I think.
What you have to realize about Ohio is that it's hard to pin down. It varies so much from city to city, north to south, east to west. It's very much like a small Version of the United States in that respect.

I live in Southwest Ohio myself. Dayton. The home of the Wright Brothers. The ones that invented the Airplane, yeah that's them. Dayton is really just a large town that thinks it's a big city. It's kind of given us a complex I am afraid. We are like the shortest kid in the class that is always making noise just to be heard.
To me Cleveland might as well be New York City. But I am sure people in Cleveland would think that's crazy talk from some hick Northern-Kentuckyian.
