The map is unbalanced due to the terrain. Some nations can build cheap forts only in mountains, and there are no mountains at all on this map. Therefore nations, which can build cheap forest/swamp/etc forts have an advantage.

You'd think that the map generator would have added in some mountains.

I'll make sure to add some to it next time.

Really though that's a fault of the castle system being virtually broken

Hum my region (south west) is full of mountains.

Border mountains != regular mountains regarding forts.
