Re: Complete List of Mercenaries, Mercs, Mercenary
I consider the proportional increase to be "Imminent Danger Pay". The boss knows you've killed off most or all his troops with your warmongering ways!

No, he just pockets the extra cash.
Note that if you don't hire a merc, he will sometimes hang around with for a while with a lower asking price. Thus the price can drop if he has so few men that no one wants to hire him. Usually, though, if no one hires him he just goes back to his cave to cry himself to sleep.

Them, that's one awesome thread indeed. I got to around 400 posts before finally deciding that was (more than) enough for one day...
Any idea if we would know the writer from these forums? That guy really put a LOT of work into it.

And sometimes they just disappear completely, even if you bid high on them.

Re: Complete List of Mercenaries, Mercs, Mercenary
I used to have a problem with mercs sometimes disappearing when I bid to renew their contract. So I started always clicking on the merc's current province when renewing, and haven't seen them disappear yet. Not sure if it's at all related to what you're seeing. And it could be just coincidence.
