Questions about the multiplayer community

He does technically have a point about it being the invisions board IRC channel though, because the regulars there started and were the first to join the invisions board. What's interesting is that the chat and the board have a decidedly different atmosphere despite having a very similar core group.

The Stardock games got started because of the connection to their 4X games, especially Elemental. It is actually where I first heard about Dominions and got interested. I started one over there, as a newbie, because I thought it would be a good way to get into a newbie game. I also thought it might get some people into multiplayer that did not visit these forums. I would not really consider it to be a separate community for Dominions, though. I invited a couple people from that game I am in here to join the newbie game there after they were knocked out early in VanillaStrawberry. A few people from the game I started there are joining the LA game that I am starting here.

The advantage about a game at a place like the Stardock forums is that people read about the game and get interested enough to purchase and get involved. On the other hand, people who know about these forums already know about the game.
