In snow maps in WW2 I often buy some ski support grunts. The speed advantage is really great, if you are still relying on foot-sloggers rather than plentiful supplies of APCs. Can be good as desants, if dropped off the T-34 well short of the enemy positions (or they will be hosed off). Ski troops operate like regular summer-time infantry in the white stuff.

1950s still is near enough to WW2, so a few platoons of ski troop could well prove useful?.

(edit : if the USSR had Siberian ski troops post WW2. They don't - probably due to the lack of free slots in such a crowded orbat..)

Hi,

After many computer problems, I'm back.

I will continue the campaign (NEW) when she stopped in 02/1950.

Next battle:

Location: Fulda Gap;
Date: 1950/02;
Enemy: USA;
Mission: Meeting;
Visibility: 10;
Turns: 45 (Thanks for the tip);

My TO&E:

HQ :
HQ - 1X BTR-40,
1X Riffle section - 1X BTR-152;

RECCE platoon :
5X Scout team (RPG-2) - 5X BTR-40;

Engineer platoon:
1X PT-34,
1X T-34 BTU,
1X Engineer - 1X BTR-152;

Motorized infantry company:
10X Mechanized (Carabine, RPG-2) - 3X RPG-2 team - 10X BTR-152;

Tank platoon:
4X T-54-1;

Support platoon:
3X 82mm mortar - 1X GAZ-66,
3X 85mm D-44 AT gun - 3X GAZ-66;

Mortar platoon:
1X Riffle section - 1X GAZ-66,
1X Art observer - 1X BTR-40,
3X 82mm mortar - 1X GAZ-66,
3X 120mm Mortar - 3X GAZ-66;

Artillery platoon:
1X Riffle section - 1X GAZ-66,
1X Art observer - 1X GAZ OP JEEP,
3X 122mm M-30 FH - 3X GAZ-66;

Anti-Air platoon:
6X BTR-152A (OLD ZSU M-16);

Regimental artillery platoon:
3X OFF-MAP 152mm D-1 FG

Main change, as you can see, is the introduction of BTRs and T-54-1.

Here's a map of the central area of the battlefield:

Thank you!
