Re: Obsolete ships
1) E-mail Aaron about the bug. Include the relevant savegame file.
and
2) Build one ship of the problem design, give it a turn to live, and then scrap it. Should work around the problem (although it needs to be fixed).

Re: Obsolete ships
Where do I find his email addy? And wouldn't he need the race file with empire designs saved, with the saved game?
Just to be clear on your work around.
.07: unobsolete design and enter in queue.
.08: do nothing.
.09: recycle ship and re-obsolete design.
Were you able to re-create the bug? And tried this, or is it a guess? Not that guesses are a bad thing. At this point, anything is worth a shot. I just got baseships, and changed a few building strategies, and would really like to clean up the old mess. (first game woe's).

Re: Obsolete ships
If no one else can duplicate this, then perhaps either my install or patch application got hosed. might need to re-do.
The other thing not sure if I mentioned, for design types, I deleted some of the defaults, and made new ones that are more general. like I don't need 3 seperate lists for colony ship types. One catagory of "colonizers" is fine. So I used the delete type option, and made a new one called that. I doubt this has been the problem tho, as obsolete colony ship designs have been deleted on .0 like they are suppose to. but if trying to re-create, then all details are relevant. others that come to mind are "combat","bombers", "support" and "transports". Most of my designs are in those lists. The more specific default listing catagories have been deleted. IE: Colony Ship(rock), ect....
No, the only problem I have had, is with the retrofitted ship designs, and the one mysterious Sat design.

Re: Obsolete ships
I noticed something, that may answer the problem here. (squash that bug)
Now, the game and race that started this thread is long gone.
The Simultaneous game before my current game is also gone but I am still using the same race file. In that game, I did save the empire with designs.
That being said.
In my new current game, when I click on the stats option, it shows I have "in service" the same number and type of ships that I had in my abandoned game.
Perhaps, the game's failure to delete those designs is due to the empire file still showing ships "in service" of that type.
As I said, the old game is gone, so i can't go back and try different workarounds, like re-saving the empire file on turn .9. But this is a strong possible explanation imo. I will be looking more into this in my current game. I will have to re-create the bug, and then try a workaround. if that fixes it, then fixing this bug in the next patch should be easy for MM.
(if I don't get killed trying to do someone elses job.) I would like to play the damn game, not bug hunt it. It will take about one more major irritation and off my HD it goes.
