Anyone knows anything about this ?

https://www.militarytimes.com/flashp...rt-to-ukraine/

I have no idea what's in that turret mounted on the 113. It looks like ( sorta) an Australian M113A1 FSV but the barrel seems too long and it is allegedly part of a package of M113s being sent to Ukraine but I suspect an editor found an "interesting shot" and included it but what this is and why it was supposedly at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany is unknown to me

Anyone?

Another version of this article captions this photo

OK...... found more info by Googling "1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment"

Have not yet found a description

Fallout Re: APC Development and related topics.

Well, I'm going to "step out" of the Thread box for a moment as this is part of the of and the lead in the ref below.

Ref. 1
"Just this week, 65 Ukrainian air defenders completed Patriot training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and have now arrived back in Europe."

Ref. 2
"Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) missile defense project director Tom Karako ..."

"Built by Raytheon Missiles & Defense, each battery includes a radar, control station, power generators, 5-8 launchers, support vehicles/equipment and requires about 90 personnel to operate. Considered a theater-scale surface-to-air missile defense system, it is mobile though “not super-mobile because of its footprint,” Karako says."

It would appear from what I've read that the Ukraine will be operating 2 Batteries of the PATRIOT System.

This includes the one we're sending and with the combined total from the EU members who are conducting separate training on theirs in Europe.

Ref. 1

"Meanwhile in Germany, at the close of this month, more than 4,000 Ukrainian soldiers and two brigades, one equipped with M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicles (ODAS as already identified and addressed.) and one equipped with Stryker ICVs will have completed combined-arms training and have returned to Ukraine."

"Additional combined-arms training is currently underway at Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels training areas in Germany, with two motorized infantry battalions consisting of 1,200 Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel. Operator and maintenance training on donated platforms is also ongoing, with more than 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers having completed platform training and 40 different programs of instruction on more than 20 systems since April of 2022."

"The 59 Bradley IFVs included in this package, together with the 50 Bradleys previously committed on January 6, and the 90 Stryker APCs will provide Ukraine with two brigades of armored capability. "

As I might've already mentioned they are keeping them with the same Brigade.

The ONLY other question besides when they'll be arriving and put into service is, will they wait for the ABRAMS or integrate them in the Combined Operations Training in country with their Russian/Ukrainian tanks which by the way for several months now are operating within their own Brigades etc. by tank type.

It's an interesting dynamic to ponder but, one I think will happen.

I figured I'd save you some the time of reading these (But feel free to do so.) as there seems to be some "reading into" an article vice just "reading it." and "The World continues to spin round and round".

Based on the previous post just want to make sure the Ukraine got the Australian M113AS4. Which is the ONLY one they have.
http://www.military-today.com/apc/m113as4.htm

I'd rather be in theirs than ours given the choice.

EDIT: Australia is to build 100 BOXER CRV LANCER for Germany with deliveries to START SOMETIME IN 2025.

Current status the Australian BOXER CRV in it's STILL IN IOC.

I know this because I get their OFFFICIAL ARMY MOD "NEWSPAPER" online. Love the Aussies, they were very helpful to us and the game as Don might well remember as well.

Regards,
Pat

I hate to provide a post that's all milk and no meat, but I felt like sharing this funny 'APC development'. A friend of mine has a friend (Yes yes, one giant game of telephone. This one, I promise, is legit) in Ukraine that's been part of the TDF since the war began, and recently his unit managed to snag hold of a Russian T-64(?) tank that had a busted turret and a wonked up drivetrain. Since the turret was worthless and the drivetrain was too messed up to use as an ARV they went for the next best idea possible. They tore the turret off, mounted a sort of casemate to the ring with a DShK mount and are using it in a 'Kangaroo' role. That is to say it's rolling about with the M113s, humvees, and assorted other equipment in their unit and carrying infantry around. Apparently from what I've heard the Russians don't like it all that much.

It's amazing what happens on the battlefield when you're at war, huh?

In other article is stated that this vehicle is an APC and Ukraine long before full scalle war have similar concept of APC build on T-64 chasis and was called BMPV-64 by Kharkiv Armor Plant. So I'm a little bit confused this improvised vehicle is ARV or APC ? from other side BMPV-64 was never build in series and there is no info that prototype is used now so who now.

https://en.defence-ua.com/weapon_and..._war-6426.html

Oryx also mention about Ovod APC build on Gaz-66 light truck chasis. only prototype was build but is actively used in fights here is a link about this vehicle
