In my experience it will never be the same again, something changes permanently and there might be symptoms rest of injured persons life which might be hard to detect like mood swings for no apparent reason. How i have found out adapting meditative practices and philosophies especially can help people with head injuries. To cope with these symptoms and take distance to the thoughts that might surface because of the physical damage related transformation. Then not leading to take unwanted action. This kind of struglle can be on daily basis and it might not go away. Just need to learn live with the problem and make the best of life.

I have had similar experiences though I am noticing improvment.

I just completed a construction project in my home that involved building a 16' wall and hanging a double door doorway in my basement which turned out exactly the way I planned it to turn out and I don't think I could have done that 6 months ago.

Yes, the symptoms especially in milder injuries almost all vanish. At first i had mild paralyzation, slurred speech and severe difficulties in memory and thought process but have had non of that in some 10 years now. I also know some wheelchaired who are walking normally now after long period. The time with thought difficulties was actually also interesting in its own, able to notice how nothing feels different in me but the link in between is damaged and it wont come out like it used to before. I dont know how to explain its strange. I mean the thoughts dont come normal but are still there as if the link between myself and the thoughts alter it. Not associating myself to my thoughts and start to think thoughts are somehow linked to the physical form but not the one thinking which is not altered even the link in between is different. I never noticed it before and i wont notice it now either because the link functions well enough now. So the physics alter but there is something beyond which wont be feels like.
