Tesco, that wasn't a strategy, that was desperation. 
I do want to point out something about drones and fighters, though. If you intend to use them for defense be sure that the game settings have been changed from the default 1000 units to something a little more reasonable. 1000 may seem like a lot at the begining of the game but once you've got a large empire you'll find yourself unable to launch due to sats and mines you've placed.
