Re: How\'s this for a start...
I'm not positive, but I don't think shields help you much with a damaging warp point, I think you need lots of armor. I think that's the only thing that works. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me...

Re: How\'s this for a start...
Try to get 200 points of armor on the ship or try sending them thru one at a time until you get one to survive. I don't think they always damage 100% of the time.
You can make a armored colonizer out of a light cruiser to establish a foothold outside. Then make a ship yard and expand from there.
Of course you can always wait until you can open a new warp point.

Re: How\'s this for a start...
Actually, KiloOhm, that will probably be a very fun game. By the time you break out, the AI empires will be well-developed and will present a real challenge. Enjoy.
Hint: Research repair as well as armor. Then make Repair LCs and send them through with every fleet.
Also, in my experience, a damaging warp point always has a black hole on the other side.

I can send the saved game to people if they are interested in trying it out. I do think it will be a fun game.

Yea, that's my plan.

Now that's an interesting piece of information. I'll have to see if that's true. Thanks for the tip!

Re: How\'s this for a start...
Damaging warp points do indeed always have a blackhole on one side of them. You can even see a warning of this if you select the warp point.
Also, they do not always damage all ships and shields offer no protection only armor.

KiloOhm, I'd like to try that savegame. If you have made any changes to your datafiles please include them as well so it's playable. Send it to jubala76@hotmail.nospam.com (remove .nospam) please.

Re: How\'s this for a start...
I second dmm's opinion that you will find it a more interesting game. My Halogen game has been riveting, even if I am mostly getting my butt kicked.
