				 Thanks to a friend...
...who has been teaching me this game and swapping strategies with me almost from Day One, I have managed to, in a single turn, capture over 100 DNs of the 125 that came against me .

I'm playing a Religious and Psychic race in a TDM Game. The Earth Alliance dominates the galaxy, with me relegated to two sectors in the SW corner. Suffice to say, the AI's been trying for those two systems for a very long time. We did some meddling with the tactical combat options to rearrange my default strategy to Capture Ships with the secondary to Optimal Firing Range. We then refit my DNs with two Allegiance Subverters, three Heavy SHD Depleters, and four TK Projectors. In the first battle, I took 72 out of 91 DNs that came for me; the second battle I took 27/32; the Last I took the two remaining stragglers.

Now, granted, I had 120 DNs on that warp point to begin with, but the fact still remains that until now, I've been primarily destroying rather than capturing ships; now, I have enough ships that I can send through a large attack force without sacrificing my defenses at all . So, my thanks to Grand Admiral Grover for the inspiration. With this success, I've decided to put AS's on my Weapon Platforms and Satellites to allow me to capture even MORE ships.

My only hope: they don't start putting Master Computers on their ships.

If they do... put some computer viruses on your defenses. That should help out alot.Quote:

Uhm, no. Combuter viruses are direct-fire beam weapons.
The Organic seeker spores are probably what you're thinking of.

That's right. My bad. I was thinking of the Organic spores. I'm out of it today.Quote:

Also, make sure you've got the economy to support your new uber-fleet. If not, start scrapping ships pronto or maybe capture a few enemy mining colonies... |

Those results illustrate the unbalanced nature of the AS, esp. combined with Talismans. |

Yeah I just noticed that...my profits have dropped from >500K/turn to -100K/turn. That's alright, I have resource converters to hold me over until I make my assault on the neighboring system (which should be inside 10 turns).Quote:

As for the imbalance of AS with RT: yeah, it is a little too easy. Maybe if the chance to convert was dropped (severely), things would be a little more balanced. From a greedy perspective, I can't complain, but from the perspective of someone who likes a challenge, it is definitely a problem.

"I can't complain, but from the perspective of someone who likes a challenge, it is definitely a problem."
A lot of this has to do with the AI being too stupid to use Master Computers
