3DS Max 4

I was wondering if anyone here uses 3DS MAX 4 for creating shipsets. Im trying to learn how to use the program. I'm to lazy to take a class, and i think reading one of teh books on the program would help. Which book should i buy?

Start off with the manual. I want to use it too, but like you I'm too lazy to take a class in it. And besides it too expensive for me. If you need the manual, please let me know I will send it over to you.

Have you tried using truespace, if 3dmax is too expensive? Anyways, I wouldn't buy a book. I've seen plenty of internet tutorials out there, though I can't think of the addresses off hand. Just search google for something like "3d studio max tutorial"
