Try copying the game you have on your desktop to an external drive, then copy it on to your laptop. I’ve done this several times to transfer modded versions of the game from my main laptop to my backup one with no problem. I have been playing WinSPWW2 and WinSPMBT for over twenty years, and I have never had a problem like this.

@nikb - Exactly as WilliamB points out - COPY the working install to the other machine.


I have done this every time I have had a new machine (quite a few over the last couple of decades). it works for both games and my other versions, mods, etc.
