Default Strike Aircraft/Bombers vs Off /Map Arty?

I've seen who counter-battery work, where O/M arty takes out the opposing O/M arty. But strike aircraft can do it, too! Has anyone explored this in SPMBT?

No, i don't think it's actually possible without too much coding, btw, an arty park is likely to be well behind the front lines, and defended by AA(don't you place AA near your guns?), that's the job for a flight, wich takes off, goes for target, and rtb, not for a "on call" sortie, that's a bit for air force commanders

I have never seen it happen by accident or whatever.

For scenario sake I've taken an off-map artillery or rocket battery and renamed it "Airstrike" and set it to a reinforcement turn longer then the scenario is long (that way the player never has control over it). Occasionally this battery will in fact fire a counterbattery mission (code glitch that it fires at all probably, but wtf, it "works"), thus simulating an air attack on opposition off-map artillery.

Nice idea I would not call it a code glitch though, arty as reinforcements can generaly be taken as on other fire missions elsewhere for the big stuff. A counter battey opportunity would fall into that realm.
A nice touch would be to restrict ammo so only gets 2-3 goes before they head for home which you might well have done

Any arty that is a reinforcement is under Corps or higher command, not yours. So we allow higher HQ to assign as CB. The method of making them never-arrive reinforcements is a fine way of keeping such arty out of the players grubby hands for the scenario designer !.

Restricting the rounds would be somewhat silly, since they need 8 rounds (or some such - it could be 4 RPG) in reserve to fire CB.

Easy enough then. Just assign some sort of heavy artillery or MRL for this sort of thing since they tend to have lower amounts of ammo. Besides such a unit is likly to do more damage as CB anyway.
