Hello everyone. I'm brand new and taking Pangaea.
Thanks for having me, hope to have a good clean game, I hate blood on my leather desk chair.
Seeing as I'm new here, any chance we can get the pretenders to sound off? I'd like to know who to PM the death threats and beggings for my life to.

No, my point is, since I forgot to put a password, some one is fooling with my turns, as this is not the only time this has happened. Just a question, if I give my orders, then some one else comes and overwrites my orders, but does not give any orders, would it say I have staled next time I play? Cause if so, then some one has defintly been messing up my turns alot.
Huzurdaddi
June 27th, 2005, 12:59 PM
Ribbon Blue,
If they followed the steps you are talking about I think you would not stale. You would simply do nothing at all that turn. As a matter of fact I do not know how I would get the staled message.

YellowCactus
June 27th, 2005, 01:03 PM
OH,
Now that is a problem. Normally I wouldn't believe our little community of Dominions players would intentionally do something like that. However, since the 'Norfleet' incident, we have to accept that some people will break the game for whatever reason. Hopefully whoever's messing with your turns is a new player and didn't understand the damage. That's bad. Bad bad bad. You should probably go ahead and attack Vanheim with all you've got. No since holding back!

Yeah I put very secure passwords on my pretenders these days.
However Ribbonblue I dont think there is anyway to delete a turn of orders to generate a stale.

Maybe. But he also does not have that much XP. So I figured that the starspawn was newly equipped with some stuff that was raising hell or he has exactly the correct paths to sling some spell that could do some serious damage.

I mentioned yesterday that the server would be down for an hour. It was back up an hour and 15 minutes later. The clock was set for the time remaining when the game server was taken down.
As far as I know, once someone has logged in for a turn, even if orders were not give the turn is marked as played by that nation. No turn has been forced by the server as of now.
There have been no other reports of "strange" behavior by the server...(such as not be able to log in for more thasn a few minutes, or orders not being carried out. If anyone else has been experiencing difficulties, please, post a message about them. Stalled turns are being watched for any patterns (the server notes them). One nation accounts for 95% of them (for the sake of the game that nation shall be nameless). The remaining nations have only had a few. As a result they have been considered "intentional". Again, any server problems should be posted.

Ummm, pretty serious tone there for a game amigo. The strange sound of my words is attributable to the art of lighthearted joking. I assumed people playing a war *game* would not be offended by the act of war within the game, or even some related jocular comments. So if you view wishing you happy holidays, and giving you credit for playing the game well as 'pathetic' and a poor example of Americans, then perhpas you are the one with the problem.

The pretender of Tien Chi, the false god Yuck Fou has been slain by the brave and noble Jotun Giants. The killing blows were administered, fittingly, with a weapon of Abysian manufacture, a Kryss Knife which had been removed from the stinking corpse of an Abysian slayer mere hours before the perfidious Tien Chi army attacked.
Yuck Fou's death on the battlefield is proof that he is not a true god, but rather a charlatan dressed in a papier-mache dragon costume. His corpse shall be burned forthwith, save the head, hands, and feet. The head will be mailed back to the high mandarins of the corrupt empire of Tien Chi, and the severed extremities sent to the four corners of the land to demonstrate their desperate weakness.
Death to the enemies of Jotun! All hail Soapyfrog, defender of the true faith and champion of all free peoples!! Huzzah!

Aye, and yet another victory against Tien Chi this turn brings! Yea though my lands crawl with imps of the fiendish Abysia, still my opponents can not face me man to man. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
Abysian slayers died in droves this turn, although they did manage to take down two herses in 8 attacks. Yes this shows you the nature of my opponents. Gutless!!! And yet even in their craven cowardice THEY FAIL!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
This would be a good time to point out to Abysia and Tien Chi's neighbours their growing weakness. Though they may overwhelm me in time through sheer numbers, if you strike now you will bring them to their knees!

I wrote that in the game settings in the first post.
So everybody who signed for the game agreed to that houserule.
YCs hurricane is force majeure so we turn off quickhost until YC is safe back. But after that we will keep 24h quickhost until turn 50. We do want the game to end before dominions 3 comes out. Iirc Dom 3 was announced for late 2005 so we need to hurry with the game. And apart from that it is more fun if it runs fast paced, i.e. at reasonable speed.

Actually I am confused as to why you are so weak. You have not been able to beat my armies in the field, and your best tactic has been to mass cast remote imps. Where are the swarms of blood summons? Where are the ranks of Lava Warriors and Abysian Infantry?
Of course I will succumb to TWO opponents. There can be no doubt about that if no one comes to my aid. What can one do? Were you my only opponent, Aku, things would be veeeery different. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

The fire-blessed Red Guards and Celestial Soldiers did manage to inflict significant casualties on the nature-blessed Herses and Woodsmen, but the cost is easily bearable, with fresh troops flowing up form the heartland every turn.
Of course, it seems there is no end to these Tien Chi armies either, but their eventual victory shall be dearly bought!

Jotum probably has to best chance against a hellsword golem because you can actually hurt it at 26 prot and give it afflictions. Now I have to summon a new one this turn and transfer the gear and heal the afflictions of the old golem which will take a few turns and give him new gear. Bah the hassles. Anyway I have another sc coming your way but hes not a golem. One that will theoretically do better than the golem.

Another great victory for the forces of Soapyfrog!
Once more the main hosts of Jotunhelm and Tien Chi clashed on the field outside the fastness of Narfell. The Green Dragon of Soapyfrog and the Red Dragon of Yuck Fou had both taken to the field to provide encouragement to their respective hosts.
A great cry went up from both armies and the battle was joined. Enormous Herses and Woodsmen swung their swords and axes hewing the ranks of Red Guards and mowing through militia like the chaff that they were. A few celestial soldiers were on hand to bolster the ranks and indeed they held firm for a time as their lesser comrades melted away...
As the TC ranks broke and the Jotuns pursued through a hail of crossbow bolts, Yuck Fou succumbed to the throng that surrounded him, dying for the second time in this ill-begotten war. Desperately the remaining TC commanders attmepted to rally the troops with deed of great courage, but one by one they were slain until none remained. Out of 189 souls, but 32 wretched individuals escaped...
A great victory for Jotunheim! If only someone would aid the noble giants, it is clear that this war could be turned around... alas, with a fresh Abysian army taking the field there can be no question but to continue with a desperate defence, making my enemies bleed for every piece of land they covet!!

Alas, while valiantly trying to protect the homesteads of the Jotun heartland, the Green Dragon of Soapyfrog has succumbed to one of Abysia's vile and fiendish constructs. He equips his Golems with hellsword, skullcap, marble armour, boots of quickness, ring of the warrior and burning pearl. Then the golem casts astral weapon, making the hellsword armour-negating. Dangerous, and teleportable! Also, non-routable due to the Hellsword.
The thing is not resistant to cold or shock obviously, and as has been pointed out magic duel may kill it. Masses of undead would also do the trick...

Victory again in the field for Jotun! An Abysian army comprised of about 30 devils, 25 imps and 30 Salamanders is intercepted and smashed in the woodlands of West Rawlinswood, all three Anathemant Dragons supporting the force slain without mercy. A handful of salamanders and imps fled the field... the victory came at no small cost to the Jotuns however, but reinforcements are on their way.
Still, while the string of Jotun victories continues, the strategic situation continues to deteriorate. The noble Herses simply cannot be everywhere at once. How much longer can this go on?

I have returned from a very relaxing time on a lake here in the beautiful State of Maine! I will play my turn soon, and I promise to crank up the trash talk for CUnknown. I better hurry up... I dare say that Arco will soon be squished by the evil yoke of C'Tis! (Bad, Rev. Zombie... bad! Just because I attacked you without provocation does not mean that you should squish me with such cold-hearted abandon!) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Thanks to Cainehill for filling in for me while I was away!

I believe the maxim goes: "never trust Arcoscephalens predicting yoke-squishing by C'tis..."

I know I'm not hosting this game and I have no business setting rules or anything... but...
I hear that the game has a unit max of 30,000. I hope that people will take this into consideration and not go too crazy on units so we never hit that max. I'd do my best to limit myself to under 3,000 units, at least until there's only like 6 people left or something. If you are playing one of those powers who gets tons of free units and can't help yourself, I'd say a limit of 5,000. That should be the absolute max until people start getting eliminated, I think.
Obviously, I have no authority to make rules. I think this is a good common-sense measure that we can all self-moderate on, though. We don't want the game to break! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
If we do hit the unit max, I'm sure most people would just quit, right? I think we should do everything in our power to avoid hitting that max.
Not that I'm anything even remotely close to 3,000 units, I'm just saying. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I totally agree with Cunknown. Furthermore, if your Pythium, you shouldn't build ANY more units. You've got quite enough already young man!

I like the suggestion too.
Fortunately Pan is not Pan CW but base Pan and Ermor is soon dead and AI.
But still we can easily break the 32k unit limit.
There is one problem i can see though: Some nations need lots of bul**** units for some special purposes like mictlan slaves for bloodhunt patrolling.
Mictlan can easily get 1000-2000 slaves alone for patrolling and i don't know if pan took turmoil, he will get maenad hordes also.
Aku has the last word since he is the host but i would say that a voting doesn't hurt.
So please vote if you want a unit limit or not.

The Arco Council of Philosophers has authorized me to take drastic measures to ensure that the C'Tis undead hordes will be kept as low as possible.
I'd like to take this quality moment to thank the brave men and women who help give the Arco Flying Horsey Brigades their mythic-oomph!

I wanted to take a moment and congradulate Dian for the fine war he's fighting. Some of his stuff is top knotch! Kudoes Dian. I particularly like the scouts with fifty leadership and lots of woodsmen. Thats so dang frustrating to counter cheaply.
Well Dian, your so dead....eventually. Ermm....when someone gets around to it. Just want ya to know I'm having fun tricking, and being tricked by you.

Yes, I'll be dead soon. I have a few turns for last revenge. And now i want warning all other races -- Mictlan will become very strong because he will get 40% blood magic bonus site very soon. I think all of you know what he can do having this site.

Um...reports of Mictlan strength have been overestmated by the decietful, lying Pythiums. I assure you that the blood site Dian speaks of is nothing more than an Inkpot's End at the top of an old, dormant mountain. Furthermore, Mictlan's financial crisis have deemed the sale of this sad province neccesary. Anyone with interest in purchasing this Inkpot's End province need only notify your local Blood distributer.

And I have returned and thank you for the slow hosting on the weekend. Yet another glorious victory over Tien Chi! A marauding army of Red Guards and celestial soldiers met its demise in the icy north, having penetrated the Giantspire Pass all the way to the Icelace river. In thier desperation to stem the endless tide, Jotun necromancy helps win the day. Not a single soul of that ill-fated army would ever see it's home again, those that fled were lost to the endless jotun wildernesses. More than 40 celestial soldiers and a vast host of Red Guards and lesser troops perished, at acceptable cost to the victors.
To the Mandarins of the ill-starred Tien Chi Empire I say thee this: we will swallow your armies whole!
Soapyfrog
July 26th, 2005, 02:09 PM
Yuck-Fou of Tien-Chi... how many more must die? What is the ultimate price of your seeming lust for the blood of your own people, spilt to fertilize the soil of Jotunheim?
We almost grow tired of trying to enumerate our victories... once more, a Tien Chi army is defeatedly soundly at Giantspire pass, masses of red guard and imperial horsemen slain, celestial soldiers lying in heaps upn the field... we can but weep as we slay, knowing that things could be different, if Yuck Fou simply willed it so.
Alas... his appetite is insatiable...

Wow,
First, Tien-chi, Then Abyssia, Now Pangaea. Soapy, you are surely the scurge of the North. I'm not certain if you might not take the prize for 'Most ganged-up-on'. Pythium is the current holder of that belt.

Well really Pangaea is attacking Man, not me... but of course this has a negative effect on me since Man is less able to help me out against the evil Abysians (still I hear he is doing a great job... at least one of those stinky Golems has perished).
I receive word that Pythium is on his last legs? Perhaps that means Abysia or Tien Chi will receive a well deserved knife in the back soon... one can only dream... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Is this game on 48h quickhost? If we could keep it that way through the weekend, I would appreciate it. I have to leave for a conference on Thursday - Saturday.
