I have no fear that you can sacrifice up plenty more imps where those came from. The bottom half of the map is mictlan green as far as the eyes can see. Between you and Abysia, virgin females will soon be a endangered species http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I'm not sure how the rest of you guys feel about "Mictlan Green as far as the eye can see", but to me (and I assume, Ryleh), it's a little scary.

For a third time the pretender of Tien Chi, Yuck Fou, meets his death on the battlefield at the hands of the Jotuns. This battle was actually somewhat unexpected... the northern half of the map seems now to be plagued by scouting problems, as seems to happen on Faerun after the game reaches a certain point.
Therefore, almost by accident, a TC army blundered upon my significantly stronger force on the approaches to the Giantspire watchtower. I can only assume he could not see my army, as it had easily beaten armies two or three times the size of this particular TC force. All seven TC commanders were killed, Including Yuck Fou (who stayed in human form during the battle) and Ho Hsien-ku, an immortal hero of TC, done to final death in unfriendly dominion.
Victory and Glory for Jotunheim!!

Hey All, I have a big problem with our game. I stopped being able to get any troop reports...even to not seeing any "squares" around prov flags. Is anyone else having that problem?
It started maybe 5 or 6 turns ago, but I thought it would clearup. But no such luck.

Heh. *snicker* That's one reason some of us don't like to play the Faerun map - not that it isn't a handsome map, but it's too big.
And that means long games with huge armies, and Dominions2 gets ... flaky when there's too many units, one of the first most visible symptoms being that scouting becomes completely worthless, and you can't even see the huge armies around you. Great stuff, eh? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif At least everyone should have the same handicap.

Klatu: as mentioned in my little report, there is a bug with the Faerun map where scouting no longer works... it seems to always happen in the north eastern part of the map too.
BTW that was a mound of PD you put in Narfell. It actually did some real damage to my army! It has made me rethink my strategy a little bit, to say the least.
Man's offensive against Abysia proceeds apace I see! Truly the noble forces of Man, with the power of goodness and honour, and more importantly being on the RIGHT side cannot fail against the vile evilness of Abysia? Die, Abysia, Die! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

We need a Unit-Limit. There are still 13 Nations in the game.
The Unitlimit is slightly above 32k. Indies also count towards this Unitlimit.
So basically to be save no nation may have more then 2000 Units.
2000x13= 26000, then we have enough room for the indies and slight exceeding of the unitlimit by 1-2 players.
We should grant Mictlan,Abysia,Ctis and Ryleh a slightly bigger unitlimit since for these 4 nations hordeunits are vital:
Mictlan has hordes of slaves for patrolling and lots of Imps, Abysia has lots and lots of imps also, Ctis is Dtombs, so no further comment needed and finally Ryleh has 3 Gold Lobo Guards.
If someone is already exceeding the 2000 Unit Unitlimit, please post.
Then we have to count units probably.
In retrospective we should have turned scoregraphs on, with them it would have been way easier to estimate if the unitlimit will be reached soon or not.
Pan and Pythium will soon die, then we can increase the Unitlimit per player to 2500.
My Ryleh is so far not near the Unitlimit because of my strat for this game which is focusing on quality instead of quantity.
YellowCactus
August 4th, 2005, 07:39 PM
I think we can safely have 4000 units each. With all the wars, Some factions will become diminished so there will not be 13 factions with 4000 units. Pythium, Jot, Acro, TienChi, and Pan are all playing a great game, but will not have thousands of units.

Abysia shows his teeth... only to have them kicked in.
At the gates of Firwad the great host of Jotuns was assulted by a foe flying down out of the sky. A host of devils and imps led my two great arch-devils and various minor demons wreathed the battlefield in flames.
Stung to great anger the jotuns fought back, though the firestorm cast by the diabolic enemy took a heavy toll on their smaller allies. Through the flames they fought, driving the devils from the field, slaying the demonbred who sought to slow their advance by casting waves of flames form their finger tips.
Of course, the Arch Devils, great cowards that they are, were the first to flee when the battle turned... such is the nature of Abysia.
Enraged after the battle, the Giants broke into the watchtower of Firwad and slaughtered more than a dozen sages of Tien Chi. None were spared...

As the Tomb Lords survey the wreckage that once was the kingdom of Arcoscephale, they can only wonder what prompted the misguided followers of Pasha to treacherously attack C'tis without warning...surely they must have known of the WRATH that was to be visited upon them for their impertinence?
But such questions are for the living to ponder at length; the dread, dead Tomb Kings have other concerns--how best to grind the people of Arco under their dry, scaly heels, for example!

Your doing quite well all things considered. Pythium's quick rise to power was tough on all of us. With your starting location, he really isolated you. As for your war with Mictlan. Last turn you destroyed 7 HfH to the last man. That's pretty good considering that you lost only 3 Black sorc. in trade. Mictlan has lost more manpower against you than we did against Pythium. I think you kicked my booty.

August 26th, 2005, 12:34 PM
I'm not sure. Played the battle by repeatedly hitting the 'N' key before rushing off to work today. There was a storm cast by R'yleh. And Mictlan cast 'Rush of Strength' (Or whatever gives strength to your guys). After battel summons the forces were as follows.
Mictlan: Commanders: 1 Vampire Lord, 1 Banelord, 5 Lvl4 air mages, 5 Lvl3 air mages, 25 Jade Sorcerers (2N 2W 2?), 1 Lvl 4 Earth Wizard, 1 Moon Priest (2S 2B), 1 Priest of the Sun (F2 B3 H4). Troops: 10 Demonic Knights, 10 Storm Devils, 120 Devils, 30 Dark Vines, 30 Eagle Wariors with F9W9B9 blessings, 30 Air Elementals, 4 earth elementals, 100 wolves.
R'yleh: Commanders: 7 Golems, 2 Ry'leh Lords. Troops: 9 Abonimations, 4 Iron Dragons, 12 angels of the host.
I'm really not sure what happened in this battle. The Air elementals stayed around for quite some time and eventually a second wave of them should have gone off too. Maybe the Abonimations were doing area of effect damage to the Golems. We're playing with Zen's mod so Life draining weopons were not used by Ryleh's Scs. Also I think Golum Protection was aroung 24. The Angels fought wolves and Elementals, so Bad luck there. Most demonic casulties seem to have come from the Abonimations, but Really I only glanced at it. Boron could probably tell what was going on.
Mictlan held the field in the end, but lost Storm Devils, Demonic Knights, Dark vines and nearly all Devils. We were left with commanders who are about to get hit with Flames from the sky! Yikes.

No way. Or rather you have to enlighten me because i praised Chris Vanheim also http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif.
I need to stop the [censored] hoarding strat, it sucks compared to a good conquest strat.
If you hoard you likely survive a while and are one of the last 4-5 alive nations. So hoarding brings you more likely into the endgame, at least i almost always made it into the last 3-5 nations when i hoarded, so its my subjective experience.
But if you warmonger well you grow faster. The chance that you die by attacking the wrong guy or being gangbanged later is high, so the chance to make it into the lategame is lower. But the chance to win the game if you make it into the lategame is much higher.
There will be almost always one warmonger nation that warmongers so well that it grows faster than anyone. Then you can't stop them anymore even if you hoarded.
I could only hoard moderately in this game unfortunately, overall there is no way to beat the mictlan juggernaut for me i guess.
I might be close in gemincome, but your gold+blood income exceeds my income in these resources by far.
And Chris you are even another dimension http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif. Amazing what you have achieved with vanheim http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.
CUnknown
September 13th, 2005, 03:43 PM
I think hoarding is especially difficult in this game, because of the mods, but mostly because of the huge number of magic sites out there. If every province you take is worth around 3-5 gems, hoarding seems to be less valuable.
Boron, you're making me blush! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Growth-3 has hooked me up in this game, it's incredibly good with the mods. And more important, I've been way out of the way for most of the game, so no one has paid any attention to me. The recent Atlantis offensive against me was the first attack made by another player on my home area... and it's turn 70-something (80 something?)! I had better be powerful!
And still, the Mictlan/Ctis alliance looms large. They will be hard to beat.

Boron has a reported 324 clams.(as of turn 72) We've found gang-banging Ryleh to be extremely satisfying. SoapyFrog will make it to turn 80. Not bad for being double teamed for 70 turns.
Vanheim finished off Atlantis, who was not suffiecently aided by his allies. (We are busy with Boron). Now the Vanheim jugernaught ownes the entire western 1/3 of the map (around 130 provinces and notified Mictlan of eminent hostilities. Bastard.
Tienchi has been quiet, but we're all certain he's got some tricks up his sleeve. AND HE'S AN AWESOME HOST.

Okay, you missed that Mictlan is producing 200 devils a turn and already has over a thousand of them! YC's armies are the biggest and the baddest in the world. Well, definitely the biggest.. I suppose the title of baddest will be given after me (Vanheim) and him duke it out.
Despite Ryleh's immense pearl income, I believe the top two to be me and YC. YC has an incredible blood slave income (I hear 600/turn), and I have an incredible monetary income (14,000/turn).
Ryleh is probably #3? It's hard to tell. Aku does have a huge empire as well, and all the blood uniques, and artifacts.
Ctis is fairly huge, too, and he and YC are allies. The Mictlan/Ctis axis is mighty indeed, and only time will tell if the rest of the world is capable of taking them down. Of course, a timely betrayal by Abyssia could bring me to ruin, even if Ryleh and I manage to beat back Mictlan/Ctis.
I think the game is still pretty interesting..

Maxed Research. This is no Ulmish army, Oh no! This time you've got Vanheim. Dwarven smiths will allow, what, 20 earth attacks? Around the same for seeking arrows no doubt. Ghost riders? No more than ten I'd suppose. Then there are the Tartarians. I've only seen three, but your 20 PD in every province has proven deadly for Mictlan scouts. We're ready for you! Er....well. Faerun Update.
Mictlan has lost over half it's army, including it's best Tartarians. Well over 5000 blood worth of production sacrificed to the Vanheim war in just 3 turns. Ryleh dominates the south center of Faerun, re-taking the Pythium capitol with an unstoppable army. Mictlan lays siege to the Ryleh capitol and flees the Vanheim host which marches from the North and West.
Vanheim bosts over 500 gem income and 16000 gold per turn. Now a clear favorite for final victory, Cunknown uses a Combination of Summons including all air queens (Which nullify Storm Devils, as the devils all attack the queens) Tartarian leaders in abundance and wraithlords. The Vans make nice shock troops, but Valkyrie have yet to enter the war. Average Vanheim army include 3-4 Tartarians, 5-6 banelords, a druid, commanders with incineration staffs, 50-100 ghosts, 100+ Vans, Trolls, Draconians, and mechanical men.
Ryleh has only one army in the field, though others are surely building. His army has 77 leaders, 34 of which are angles with water boots who cast Thunderstrike twice per turn. The army is Abomination/etherwarrior and number around 150. Boron has over 350 clams, and seems to now be trading them generously to Cunknown and Aku. Boron is many many turns from excinction.
Tienchi and Abyssia are attached at the hip. They claim to be non-contenders for domination of the world, but land holdings are 1/4th of the world.
C'tis has peace with all neighbors besides Boron. little is known of his army compositions, though reports from the sea tell of victory over a mass of abominations.
That's as update as Mictlan can get. Others are welcome to tell your side.

Update,
Boron and Cunknown have been getting it! I'm losing about 50+ commanders per turn. Five turns ago Mictlan had over 600 commanders. We're down to half that and once dominant underwater armys have drown to the last men. Our offensive campaign against Ryleh is over for the forseeable future. At this point, Mictlan is pushing back against Vanheim in an attempt to force a peace. Each turn 16 unexpected events and 22 magical assassins appear on the message board. The woes of a 100 province blood nation. My days of 900 blood production are gone, never to return.
