Kailasa is out.
It seems that Arga Dis is stronger than it looks (note to self, awaken sage pretenders do not always imply weakness). Also Lanka has Attacked me, and Vanheim moved also next to my capital.

If coobe just disappears [like he tends to do in every game], it will be really unbalancing - Oceania will get whole big lake without any effort.
I think that there was a big flaw in the creation of that game. Instead of having many available starts, it should have only the amount equal to starting nations. People are now getting owned without any chances to fight and others have plenty of room to expand.

I've been waging war with R'lyeh for 3 turns now. Coobe managed to fend of my first assault 3 turns ago, but now second wave is striking. I had no idea that he's been staling all this time! I thought that he was cooking something vicious in that capital of his..
Egh. If we find a sub, I'll feel like an donkey-hole* for invading him immediately. If we don't, my victory will be shallow and undeserved.
*EDIT: Curse the god-damned profanity filter, curse it to hell!

In my test game R'lyeh had really good chances to beat Oceania. Atlantis had no chance with either. No matter what pretender choice was picked. Atlantis really really sucks in many areas and I don't think that Basalt Kings are an excuse for extremely crappy and expensive national troops. And uw nation without N mages? huh...

Lamasus, in a short respite from battle, looked out upon her lands. Such an easy conquering it had been. And no serious foes in sight. Her neighbors had been awed by the sight of her, and wanted no part of fighting her. This was too easy, she thought. Surely there must still be a foe worthy of her. Perhaps she should attack one of the ancient powers bordering her kingdom.
But no, the Prophet is right. We should take all the lands allocated to us, and then choose our war. What war shall it be? She does not know.
--- and yes, she's a frakking Gorgon, what else could it be?---

At the highest peak of the citadel in Caelum, the war minister heard the latest reports from the frontline.
"So, Tikyama, what news of the mammoth division?"
"The mammoth division has been performing excellently, eminence. Province after province have fallen to those few, woolly heroes of our nation's glory. The general has named the brave beasts in honour of their accomplishments."
"I see. And what names will we be inscribing upon the highest peaks as eternal memory of their glory?"
"Let me check the scrolls. Three have fallen, and three remain: they are Limpy I, Limpy II, and Limpy III..."
"Limpy? All three? Why? And why are their names so unimpressive?"
"Eminence, you must understand that throughout the supreme and magnificent service for the nation they could not expect to come away unscathed, and the Habab Seraph who leads them is known for lacking proper respect, like many of his black-winged sort."
"You mean, they all have limps?"
A short pause arose whilst the only sound was the distant moans of wind swirling throughout the peaks.
"Yes, your eminence."
"So, all mammoths of our heavy division have been afflicted with limps? Nothing else? Apart, of course, from facile and inappropriate names."
"One of the deceased, so named Pustule, caught a disease before the end."
"Pustule? Pustule and three Limpys? The god decreed their names are to be inscribed for eternity! Are you telling me future generations of our race looking back on the wonders of our achievements, bards singing our noble histories and endeavours, are going to be admiring that?"
"If I may say so, eminence, if I can try to explain, in the final battle, their limps were a great boon - the other three charged heroically into melee ahead whilst the Raptorians dithered, and died in the purest fire of heroic combat unsupported. Indeed, without those limps, we wouldn't have a mammoth division at all anymore. I think in recognition..."
"SHUT UP! SHUT UP AND GET OUT BEFORE I HAVE YOU DEWINGED"

Many nations have approached mighty Lamasus, with offers of trade and alliance. With our homelands conquered, she did of course welcome these envoys, and listen to their pleas.
Lamasus had made no decisions yet, but she has sent return envoys to those nations. The original envoys, of course, were turned to stone when they accidentally looked at her. You guys should really put blindfolds on your envoys in the future.

It might not be that surprising if both took awake combat pretenders and so have been able to expand very quickly. After that, there is always chance with who your neighbours are, where they focus their expansion and whether they are rushed, which can often leave more indy provinces to snap up easily for even relatively weak nations.

Think New Jomon might need to be set to AI since they have staled the last two turns, with another one looking like it's on the way in the next hour or so. They also seem to be bottom of every graph and going nowhere fast in general, so the chances of finding a sub for them at this stage are practically zero.
'Incabulos' is controlling them, and he/she is also currently staling in one other game that I know of (CarCrash). So it's a general AWOL thing and not just this game.

[switching from annoyed admin voice to creepy demon voice]
The rebel Kalaisian monkeys have been dealt with. How they hid their impudence, scurrying up a mountain and finding some fey spirits there to quietly worship hoping that word of their escape would not reach the demon lords of Lanka. Foolish monkeys. The insects of the jungles give us millions of eyes and the mountain spirits are frail protection from my hunger. As soon as a clear location of this false capital was determined a warband was assembled. These foolish monkeys would have the freedom from Lanka rule they desired, but it would be the freedom of the grave. Or to be more precise the freedom of the scrap pit after the feast, for who would dig a grave for these lesser beings?
Descending on their enclave it became apparent that the foolish monkeys had already aroused the wrath of another nation, for Arga Dis also hungered for their blood. With a howl of rage the hoard of demons charged day and night untiringly to the Kalaisian sacred mountain lest discipline be administered by other hands. These rebel monkeys were mine and I would feast. Waves of undead made short work of the walls of their city, then waves of demons swarmed over the beleaguered defenders - overwhelming them quickly despite the frantic action of their wizards and the ensuing brutal barrage. The fury of the demon warband could not be slowed.
The great feast was quickly assembled as servants and children were dragged out and piled onto the still warm bodies of the fallen warriors and made to watch as they were eaten one at a time.
I suffer no desertion from my fold, let none forget this lesson.

-The House of Enoch-
Enoch, the King of the Fomorians, notable for his one eye which can kill anyone it looks upon. It is said that he gained this power as a child when watching his father's druids preparing poisonous spells, the fumes of which rose into his eye.
He is the ruler of the plagued and cursed lands where death resides now.
One legend tells it that Enoch, the Pernicious Eye, is fated to lift the curse that harrows the fomorian people ever since the Partholan invasion.
He would lead the people to distant shores, where they would reign for thousands of years.
And so it was prophesided in the book of Buarainech, the great King and sage of the old, the last untainted Fomorian potentate.
"And the Kings of the past, the guardians of the realm of watery dead, shall return to the dark and stormy ocean realm of the drowened dead and claim it as their own again. On this journey, the one named Enoch, the Pernicious Eye, shall deliver bliss to the unblessed, and lead them to distant shored where they would reign for another ten thousand years, before the plague and gale befalls them again as it is written in the stars."

Nah, that's exactly what I did, turns taken from the same computer. Seems to trip the anti-piracy logic (based on my very limited number of tries) about 1/3rd of the time, so I'm not at all sure what trips it. I know some people never seem to run into the problem, others it happens with some regularity.

The "Readers of Telos" are horrified to hear of the water dwellers charging such extortionate prices for magical hammers. It is usually against Agarthan society to offer our services to nations who are not our friends, but we feel there are many potential friends yet to be met, and as such we would not want one of these nations to suffer at the hands of the Atlantian extortionists.
Therefore Agartha is happy to offer magical Hammers of the Dwarf for 15 Earthen gems, or 12 Astral gems, or 12 Deathly gems.

Ah, the glory of carnage. The Marverni barechests swarmed like ants whose nest had been crushed, stingers raising annoying welts. Wave after wave they came, outnumbering the Lanka warparty manyfold - barechests and slingers and archers and maiden archers and more barechests. This is good, for we bring large appetites with us. Stacking the bodies like cordwood, they pile higher than a Bandar's head! Tonight we feast, tomorrow we cast our eyes on the large larder ahead which the druids have thoughtfully stocked for us, and wonder if these ants will sally forth to sting us or huddle in their stone shell waiting for us to crack it and suck out the juicy bits. Our scouts report better armored and organized forces ahead, who can know how they will react? Perhaps they shall entertain us before the feast, this is always best.

And so, surrounded on all sides by friendly nations, and unable to expand her realm any more, Lamasus made the decision to attack the fearsome Lich King of Vaasa. Surrounded by her priests and prophet, the fearless Gorgon girded herself for war with the unholy power. Hundreds of Maenads moved to the front, to attack the undead scourge. Behind them came the mighty Centaurs, ready to take on the Lich's vaunted Demon Knights. And of course, Lamasus herself, killer of thousands, came to the battle to lead it.
After the battle, Lamasus pondered the outcome. "Never attack a lich king with naked chicks", she was heard to say, as she flew far, far away from that accursed land.

The Story of Agartha
Chapter VII - "The Devouring Earth"
Ningublaga and Utuhegal are brothers. Twin brothers. In fact they are the only twins brothers ever to have been seen amongst the race of Oracles. It is so rare for our Earth to bless two so highly and so equally, that much has been predicted of them since they came into being.
The Prophecy of Telosn'rahht adds further weight to these expectations, for it tells of '....a mirrored Oracle, who casts a solid reflection, and shall have the power to command our Earth to swallow the unworthy". Long have "The Readers of Telos" been connecting this passage to the fate of Ningublaga and Utuhegal.
During the final days of the early growth season, a large party of Druids met the twin brothers of Agartha for the first time. Though little did they suspect how hungry our Earth was, or indeed how well it would feed that day. For our Earth readily obeyed the commands of the twins, and chasmed itself wide to consume the magical energies of these unworthy mages.
The Ones are expecting our Earth to feel hungry again very soon.

If I start the search now then we'll have a good 12 hours before hosting for a sub to come forward, and if Frozen Lama can do a turn or two then we'll have a day or two to find one.
I personally really hate seeing nations go AI due to the huge unbalancing it causes, and here it seems silly to me to turn a powerful nation like Nief AI just like that, since their position is probably fine. Plus some of us are having to fight tooth and nail for every single province, so wouldn't want to see others getting freebies :D

To be honest, I'm not sure you would have found a sub. I'm pretty sure nief is in really bad shape. I don't think he even has a bless worth speaking of beyond N4. All their expansion was with skin shifters, and I haven't seen a single one of the traditional big guys, or a horde of thug commanders.

When you you are at the turn sending stage, it doesn't make difference what operating system you are using and what path Dominions are installed. More likely problem caused either:
1) problems with your mail domain;
2) problems with your internet provider;
3) problems with llamaserver.
You could get yourself a new e-mail account on different mail domain and try to send your turn-file from it. Llamaserver doesn't care from which e-mail turn was send.

The supreme commander of the Lanka military gazed upon the crumbling
walls of the Marverni capital. The culmination of years of hard
fought warfare was finally here, he had the druids by the throat and
could finally contemplate some peaceful times to lick wounds and plot.
Reflecting back upon the brutal casualties inflicted by these humans,
the very sky darkened by waves of spinning blades only to be lightened
by huge burning rocks he had to admit he had a new respect for the
soft skinned men. Many, many demons had been slain in the back and
forth struggle with this worthy opponent, the feast of their bodies
would be in their honor.
The wily druids had caught him by surprise too many times, despite
their apparent lack of defenders, supreme commander prepared for a
brutal battle. Reinforcements were summoned from the homefront… mages
riding the clouds in, and imps boiling straight from hell while storm
demons flew in by the dozens and deployed for battle behind the
shuffling mass of rotting undead. The last action had apparently been
the druids final, last ditch effort with a menagerie of animals, from
snakes and lions to magically altered iron boars exploding in huge
numbers from the besieged castle backed by dozens of mages. The
demons of Lanaka held, but there were many more casualties than
supreme commander would have liked and his troop count was too low to
be comfortable for whatever the druids had saved as a surprise, and
too much of Marverni’s army had routed. He hoped his screen of imps
would allow the mists of deception enough support to tie the enemy up
while the storm demons did the bloody work.
Dawn broke into the air and supreme commander prepared to order the
final assault, when a buzzing sound was heard across the battlefield.
With a crack a large fountain raining blood appeared between the Lanka
forces and the caslte and a voice was heard in everyone’s head
declaring the fools in Abysia would be waging war against Lanka, and
this fountain was their god. The fountain droned on about
demonstrating his power, but supreme commander was not known for his
patience, with the fountain still in mid sentence the attack order was
issued. Let that foolish pretender god learn what it is to appear in
front of a Lanka warparty ready for blood.
Scores of imps dove from the sky screeching their enchanted bloodlust
as dozens of lightning bolts crackled down blasting huge smoking
craters around the blood fountain, yet wherever the lighting struck
the fountain it channeled harmlessly into the ground. The foul thing
had planned well for a Lanka assault and was shielded from lightning.
The blood slaves and imps now surrounding it were not so fortunate
though and most were blasted to cinders in a second. We will likely
never know what the fountain planned to do, for bereft of blood slaves
it panicked and tried to route.
Blast after blast of lighting hammered down, pounding the fountain
deep into a crater but otherwise not effecting it. The longdead
shuffled up to the fountain, and were incinerated. The screaming ape
demons charged up to the fountain, and were incinerated. The
enchanted constructs from the magical mist floated up to the fountain,
and were incinerated. The storm demons were good at their job and
they relished the indiscriminate destruction.
Storm demon captain approached supreme commander. “My lord, the
lighting is ineffective. The fool thinks it is invincible to us. I
beg your leave to demonstrate to it that this lightning is but a toy
we play with and demons must always be feared.” The commander just
nodded, and seconds later dozens of storm demons flew forward with the
strength of bloodlust giving them terrifying strength. The blood
fountain was torn stone from stone and the stones themselves smashed
as the blood seeped into the blackened ground.
Supreme commander glanced at the sky with the sun now noticeably
higher. He would not have this, he would be sitting in the Marverni
throne room this very day. “Reform you dogs, we finish this now!”
The Lanka troops reformed, much lighter than before. There were
almost no longdead left after the storm demon’s carnage fest, but
sufficient blood slaves remained that supreme commander felt imps
would suffice. Just as he was about to give the order to attack the
casle, a horn sounded and Marverni’s relief troops charged from the
nearby woods lead by a towering mother of serpents. So, the ***** had
come out for the last stand, let the dance begin.
Imps boiled up from Inferno and flew to engage the Marverni troops who
greatly outnumbered the Lanka forces, but now it was time for the
storm demons to unleash their carnage on a more appropriate target.
As the Marverni troops charged over the still smoking craters, they
perhaps had a moments pause to wonder what had caused that damage. No
more than a moment however, they didn’t suffer long.
Their numbers were great though. A banelord clanked forward
ominously, yet his unholy armor proved no protection. Iron boars
found their altered state was no help. And the queen ***** herself,
decked out in all the magic finery Marverni could produce, lacked that
one little ring the blood fountain had held. With a thundering crash
the electrocuted titaness slammed to the ground and the forces of
Marverni were truly finished.
“NOW STORM THAT DAMN CASTLE”. Yet again the Lanka troops formed up
into yet smaller formations. The blood slaves were gone, there were
essentially no blockers left, supreme commander pinned his hope on the
fact the awesome might of the storm demons would be sufficient to
break whatever skeletal army held the Marverni castle. The sun now
stood at high noon, and the Lanka forces surged forward to finish
their task.
Yet something new appeared from the sky. Three somethings to be more
precise. The Abysian support flew in, two powerfully equipped
Anointed of Rhuax and a demonbred prophet of the damned fountain,
apparently hoping to finish off the softened up Lanka troops their
“god” had promised they would find in his wake. The storm demons
instantly brought the wrath of the skies down on them, yet to their
dismay realized they were equipped similarly to the blood fountain and
ignored the lightning as so much noise.
“Screw that, ALL UNITS FORM ON ME” supreme commander bellowed. “WE’LL
TEAR THEM APART WITH OUR CLAWS.” Hefting his bane blade above his
head he screamed “CHARGE!”. The ragged remnants of the Lanka army
surged forward to surround the Abysian heroes. Enchanted blades swung
and demons were slain, yet Lanka fielded heroes of their own.
Slowly….slowly the Abysians were overwhelmed. Bit by bit they bled
and then one by one they fell.
With the last light of dusk still in the sky the tiny remainder of the
Lanka army stormed the Marverni castle. Scarcely a dozen storm demons
remained and a handful of mages and heroes from the once mighty host.
A wiser commander would have waited to storm the castle, but supreme
commander would not be stayed. Caution, however, proved unnecessary
as there was but one old druid in the castle, apparently left as a
symbolic sacrifice to the Lankans. As supreme commander sat the
Marverni throne and the last druid was prepared for the feast, he
turned his eyes westward and contemplated a map of the Abysian lands.
Bah, Lankans were not meant for peace anyway.
Heh, how often does one army kill two pretenders, two prophets and
capture a capital all in the same turn? :)

WingedDog is about to submit his turn. Suddenly a cracking noise rings out from behind and ozone odour fills the room, WingedDog turns his head and sees sparklings and piles of smoke at the background. A silhouette of a man appears in the middle of the smoke and starts approaching him. When the mysterious person comes out of the smoke WingedDog is able see his face, and he founds it surprisingly familiar. The stranger breakes the silence: "I am WingedDog from the future, heed my warning. Do not teleport, I repeat, under any circumstances DO NOT TELEPORT your pretender to Lanka", - saying this words the stranger tuns around and heads toward the unusual machine could be seen now, when the smoke has finally layed down. Few moments later machine dissapeares with the same cracking sound it came.
Left alone confused WingedDog scaratches his head and removes his headphones. "Damn you, Metallica, if it wasn't for you I could have heard what was this person trying to tell me. Well I guess it's the mystery, which isn't destined to ever be solved... but this machine... the way it had appeared... it gives me the idea! I guess I will just say here that I have ended the NAP with Sauro, and will soon be at war with them. I tried to communicate this, but there was no one to answer me. I'm not jumping on a bandwagon to take out an unplaying player. I had this planned for quite some time.
That said, if a sub is found, I will rescind the declaration of war, and put it back to a 3 turn NAP>
Noticably, Jomon has already gobbled up a good portion of Sauro. Just put him on AI so that he'll at least defend himself. It's better than four stales in a row.

That's bad news on the virus Unoptimized. Hope you get it sorted out quickly and as painlessly as possible.
@ All - Chris Pedersen has kindly offered to take a look at the Sauro position, and should be willing to take over control of Sauro if everything comes up ok with their health check. So hopefully this game will get back up and running properly soon, with one less staling nation in the mix. Thank you all for your patience during the recent sub-hunting delay.

Follow it up with a scan by spybot (search key word: spy bot search destroy. Merlin is the home thereof.

Considering that effectively Sauromatia staled 4, and was severely damaged by same, (ie., more than 1/2 of sauromatias territories occupied without a fight)...
I don't think game balance has been significantly altered. In fact Sauromatia still has a significant uphill fightjust to get back to where it was before the stales.

I still haven't heard back from Cicadian, so as admin for the week, I'll give it until the morning (GMT time) to hear something back from Cicadian before taking any action.
Failing a responce though, the only real option is to look for a sub, which unfortunately will probably mean another 24 hour delay at least :( But that's certainly preferable to either further staling or AI setting in my books.
Calahan
July 8th, 2009, 05:14 AM
Ok, still no word from the ruler of Yomi (and no user activity shown for Cicadian), so I guess the only course of action (other than allowing Yomi to keep staling) is to try and find a sub.
I will post a sub-request thread as soon as I can. But unless a sub comes forward more or less instantly, then the game will likely need to be delayed to find a sub, and/or for the sub to get settled into their new home.
Will keep you all posted on events and progress.

@ All
I have delayed current hosting by 24 hours due to two delay requests I have had from players, and because there is still no sign of a sub for Yomi.
All the previous sub-finding delays (R'yleh, Sauro, Nief) were 48 hours, so while I hope the hunt for a Yomi sub won't need a delay that long, it would be consistent to tag on another 24 hour delay if Yomi are still owner-less at roughly this time tomorrow. But will keep you all updated on progress as always.

Ok everyone, still no luck with the Yomi sub-hunting :( even though the position is more attractive than most sub oppotunities IMO. I will likely be delaying the game by 24 hours for the final time (with regards looking for a sub for Yomi) so that the delay for the Yomi sub-hunting is/was the same (48 hours) as all the other delays that have been allowed for sub-hunting in this game. So apologies for the hold-up, but only fair I think to allow Yomi the same chance of finding a new owner as all the other nations got when their respective owners went AWOL.
But if a sub can't be found, then we have two options as I see it...
1) Turn Yomi AI
2) Let them stale one more turn, as that would give at least another 2 days for a sub to come forward, or for Cicadian to return. But if neither of these things happen after allowing them to stale again, then Yomi should be turned AI (without allowing any further delays for a sub to come forward).
Option #1 would of course be the normal course of action, but I'd personally really hate to lose one of the top 5 (probably) nations to the AI. And while letting them stale one more turn is never good, I don't think it will make that much difference if they are just going to end up under the control of the AI anyway. But it could make all the difference if allowing an extra stale allows a sub to be found, or Cicadian to return.
Would welcome any thoughts anyone has on this.
chrispedersen
July 9th, 2009, 07:02 PM
Yomi got top 5 by taking a *bunch* of territories while sauro staled.
I don't believe that either sauromatia or yomi in the circumstances are actually top 5.
The usual rules for AI are 3 stales in row. Sauromatia is not a threat despite the stales; TC might be.
If you are concerned about Sauromatia getting too much advantage from a staling yomi - I'd be perfectly fine with setting Sauromatia to AI.
Although I don't know how you will deal with the question of TC.

@ All - I'm going to give it roughly another 14 hours or so for a sub to come forward for Yomi, and if still no luck, then find someone to turn them AI a few hours before hosting.
@ Chris - I'm not worried about Sauro taking a lot of provinces back, I'm more worried about another good nation being quickly integrated by it's neighbour(s) without putting up a decent human-controlled fight. And turning Sauro AI would only exacerbate the problem by there being yet another good nation available for easy conquest.
Maybe someone should create a mod for a unit with a special exorcism power, and then use it on Baalz to remove the strange AWOL curse that seems to beset the players in the games he sets up.

@ Chris P
I agree that it's not ideal to plan a turn without knowing if your enemy is going to be AI or not. But a lot of players turn themselves AI without giving any notice at all, so it's usually best to plan to fight a human player regardless.
The game already got delayed a further 24 hours as I stated, as my last post mentioning a 24 hour delay is dated 9th July at 20:48, with the admin logs showing the game was delayed by 24 hours on 9th July at 20:50. So all the delays I have stated have happened, without any being mislaid. I think my posts regarding the delays for Yomi were clear at all times, but maybe they were only clear to me.
But if you are going to struggle to make the current deadline then I can delay the current turn for you so that you don't stale. Will you need a full 24 hour delay, or will 12-18 hours be ok? Since there is a danger that interest in this game might be starting to dip a bit, so would like to get it moving again if I can.
I will delay the game by 12 hours now, but if you need more time than that then please post and/or PM me, and I will add the rest in the morning when I wake up (GMT).

Thanks for subbing in as Host, Calahan. You've done a great job in what I imagine you thought would be an easy gig.
And yes, there have been far too many delays, for a game that people just seem to drop out of randomly. Perhaps the size of it is just overwhelming for some. I would say, in the future, if someone stales two times in a row, just set them to AI. It's the only way to keep this game going.

Again I find it hard to disagree with you, this time on the notion of a strict "two stales and out" policy from here on in. Still a long road ahead for this game, and if we want to be finished by Christmas, then it would be useful to avoid further lengthy delays. Christmas 2010 that is!
@ All
I have not heard back from Chris yet saying whether or not the 12 hours I delayed the game by will be sufficient time for him to get a turn in before the hosting deadline. But I will keep a close eye on the deadline, and if it looks like Sauro are about to stale, I will add a few extra hours. Since Chris did originally ask for a 24 hour delay, and I only gave him half of it with a 12 hour delay in an attempt to get the game moving again. But Chris might well have needed the full 24 hours he asked for, but has not had chance yet to say whether or not just a 12 hour delay was ok or not.

@ All - Several people seem to be experiencing problems with the llamaserver currently not accepting .2h files for any of their games. Guessing this is entirely due to the llamaserver being switched to a sparkly new server (probably as I type), but hopefully, with the 24 hour delay, the llamaserver will be back to normal and accepting turn files before the turn hosts on Wednesday morning (llamaserver time)
Although @ All - please report if you are still having problems in say twelve or more hours time.

I'm really sorry for the inconvenience, but I'm going AI. I really just can't stand the boredom anymore. I know it's a di*k move, especially in this game where the game especially suffers from this behaviour, but damn....
I was really hyped about this game you know? I was really looking forward to write some nice AAR's and roleplaying. But EA Oceania? Seriously? In the start I took the idea with humor, "I mean, they can't be that bad, right?". But damn.. Oceania is simply dull. It has dull gameplay and dull thematics. Triton Kings from the freaking little mermaid disney flick? WTF?
God knows I tried writing AAR's, but the only concept I had was the Triton nobles and their superiority (which can be seen statwise and is hinted in the descriptions). But I really don't want to write about racial superioity (not even in this context), you know, because of what that wanna-be artist with stupid moustache did some years ago.
And the gameplay.. Ugh.. Don't even get me started on this. I did *lots* of fetishes, I did lots of clams and behold! It was dull! The final nail in my coffin was when my prented got feebleminded by a lucky mind blast. It just took me 30 turns to realize that I'm basically dead. You know what kind of cool late-game stuff you can with Oceania nationals? Yeah, not lots. I did empower myself to astral, but meh, I was never able to really benefit from it.
I just finally got sick of it. I'm sick of moving fetishes around. I'm sick of spending my hammer-time to forge Amulets of Fish. I'm sick of the fact that they eat absolutely crucial misc slots from my only battlefield mages. I'm sick of desperately hoping good paths on my Spectres. I'm sick of the fact that I wasn't able to summon my first Lamia Queen until 3 turns ago. I'm sick of hoping that helheim would come underwater to kick my *** and relieve me from playing. I'm sick of being hit by all nice late-game stuff by Helheim and wishing that I had access to those. I'm sick of doing half-assed turns because I just couldn't care less of this half-finished nation that is somehow in the vanilla roster.
I considered trying to find a sub, but that would a total di*k move. The nation is doomed. But instead of going out with a bang, it's withering away, a slow, painful & dull death.
I'm really sorry for leaving this game like this. I really am. But I just can't stand it anymore.
But I learned something. Never, ever join a EA game wiht random nations. There just is no way I'm going to play vanilla EA Oceania ever again.

Yeah, I have some provinces next to him. Don't assume that there is much of fight thought. Just some claymen (the best use of W4E1 Triton Kings, sadly) and navigators.

Sadly, Caelum is not capable of putting up much of a fight against the mages of Fomoria either, whose wicked conjurations of multitudes of Ashen Angels and Earth Elementals surprised our doomed commanders this month.
Our fine feathered fighting forces have had a long slog against the valiant warriors of Helheim and their in-laws, with many glorious deaths on the field of battle for both sides. But we will do what we can with the scraggly remnants of our army to keep Fomoria from getting totally bored out of their skulls.

Heck yeah. I'd continue fighting if I had some valiant last stands to do. Those are actually fun. But it will take decades for anyone to actually assault my underwater provinces, that's one of the reasons why I see my postion as so dull. Even once I lose my coasts to Helheim, he'll probably stop there and leave me rot in the ocean. I tried to bate Agartha into attacking me, but to no avail, since he got distracted by Fomoria.

I'm willing to make a truce with Agartha if he'll fight you and there for keep you in the game.
Oh, and that's very kind of you vfb. :)

Well, obviously annoying but nobody could reasonably expect you to stick it out if you're that miserable. Thanks for playing as long as you did and no worries (at least from me) about bailing.

Thanks, that means a lot for me. In this game, several things just accumulated on me to create a very unusual binge. The lack of indie mages and the sudden loss of pretender paths + unfortunate choice of neighbours. (there wasn't anyway I could have fought against TC in the early/mid game, those Warriors of the Five Elemets just are a counter to all of the tricks I could do). It was nice of Jazzepi to humor me by signing a NAP.
But, luckily it wasn't all for naught. This game gave me inspiration to do my Underwater-mod, parts of which are going into the next CBM. I'm just the kind of guy who can't stand to see something broken when it can be easily fixed. But my underwater rant (trust me, I have a lenghty one) isn't really for this thread.

TC, the nation who only conquers the AI. I actually did rush Arco in the very beginning and we had a nice fight, but that's been pretty much it this game. :(
