Default Most melee kills in one turn?

In a test game, I managed to get 30 kills per turn, so my Firbolg hero destroyed a Pythium army of 50 Emerald Guard and 300 assorted rabble in about 15 turns. He has 405% heroic quickness, Lucky Sword, Blood Thorn (for reinvigoration), Gore Helmet, Robe of Invulnerability, Chi Shoes, Stone Bird, and Dancing Trident. At start of combat, he casts body ethereal, earthpower, strength of gaia, quickness, and astral weapon (which does not seem to work on all the weapons... emerald guards still take multiple hits). So by my calculations he should be able to take out 60 targets per turn, if I could pit him against Hoburgs=) But currently, I've only managed 30 versus size-2 targets.

Anyone beat that?

Do Soulless count? I had a Marignon chap level almost 500 Soulless and Longdead. He was behind a handful of Knights of the Challice who held the line at a dear price while he let loose with divine fury. He was eventually forced to retreat, but, oh my friends, they burnt with a glorious light . . .

Off the topic of kills/round but on the topic of kills/fight, I decided to see if 15 full carrion reanimations of souless (unequipped) could beat one legion of 20 wights, and set up such a fight on Gandalf's battle sim map. The wights waded through all 1500 souless, killing 50 soulless each. And they came out completely unharmed. Not one of the 1500 souless even injured a wight. I was somewhat surprised as to the complete ineffectiveness of souless even in huge numbers.

IMO, their only use is in patrolling, or in soaking up cavalry charges.

Wights are ideal for the task, largely because they are tireless. Soulless can at least fatigue melee units that get tired when they fight, and that will bring them down. A pretty amazing result, nonetheless. I'd have expected at least some injuries, but soulless have extremely low skills, and wights have high ones, and good armor, so the chances are probably very low of them getting hurt. The right tool for that job, I suppose.

Against human troops they work somewhat decently as waves of fodder that exhaust the outnumbered enemy. I did expect at least one to get lucky enough to hit a wight though.

I have had them bring down a pair of Vastnesses though, so they certainly have some use.

You could probably up that kill rate tremendously by using area affect weapons like sunslayer, sword of many colors, stone sword, demon whip, harvest blade etc.

Natajara with heroic quickness wielding harvest blade, stone sword and unquenched sword would be interesting. You would probably end up swatting yourself sooner or later with the stone sword though, perhaps ember would be a better choice.

Unfortunately... the limiter seems to be that you can only target one square per turn. So a weapon that targets the whole square doesn't help if you already kill everything in the square...

Against hoburgs, though, it might help.

The Stone Sword and Sword of Many Colors target several squares. Plus there are the various damage shields, e.g. the Aegis.
