I believe the orginal post is combining two IDF tank commanders. As accurately noted Lt. Greengold in the Golan. However in the Sinai LtCol Natke Nir was a Centurion Brigade commander with some very significant exploits during the war (destroyed the Egyptian 130th Amphib Bde near Botzer for example). He was badly burned during the Six Day War and had to hoisted up into his command tank during the Yom Kippur War. He was in Adan's 162nd Udga/Division. Thus from the description the story may be a composite of both men.
