Default Anyone want to finish the site list?

The zip file contains -
a map - this map has every site in the game, in order of ID #. So, province #25 has sites 100-103 in it (sites 1-3 are not on this map). Note from the map that sites can be added by number now! No more spelling mistakes!

On each version of the map, ermor has the entire board.
In one version of the map, all sites are found so you can copy over statistics.
In the other version of the map, they're hidden, if anyone wants to start seeing how difficult they are to find (and which of them make buildings, etc.)
Dom3 appears to have ~100 sites more than dom2, most of them capitals.

a list of sites - this contains both the previous dom2 sites list provided by Sunray and his compatriots, and a partial list of dom3 sites including ID #s. It's in .xls format.

I've gotten tired of this but if anyone wants to finish....

Someone please compare that with this list...
http://www.dom3minions.com/docs/sites.txt

That list is pulled straight out of the game. If I numbered that list (probably starting with zero since programmers do that) does it match up?

The list starts with 1, not 0, which surprised me as well.

That said - it matches perfectly, at least in the several places I checked. How did you get the game to spit that out?

I went ahead and updated the .xls file. Here 'tis.

Here's a list of site changes, if anyone is interested - and assuming the list I got from Sunray is complete and correct.

in that list is Gnipahålan, starting site of Helheim. It existed back in DomII IIRC.

Since it appears that you linux, you will love my answer. (that was the result of a diff command that you just posted isnt it?)

strings /usr/local/games/dominons3/dom3.exe >stringsDom3.txt
less stringsDom3.txt

That gives you all of the text in the game.

Then I find something I know exists in the game, such as:
/ Fields of Fire Flies
That puts me in the right area. Then I scroll to the bottom of that group and use
m a
to mark the spot. Then I scroll to the top of that area and hit
| a cat >asdf.txt
which pipes from my current position to the 'a' mark I had made into a cat command going to a file.

Since the first item of a list rarely changes, and the lists are usually marked by a "none" at the end of them, I think I could even automate it. So that each new patch can automatically update the lists used by modders and mappers. The sites, the equipment, the units, the armors, the forts, the effects, etc etc.
