 To or through? To pass through you just run into it.
 To get to it, bring up the map and figured out which direction it is in, then return to the game screen and turn that way. There isn't a simplier way unfortunately.

 Target stuff as in set it as your firing target like you normally do by right-clicking? I didn't know you could do that... is that new in 1.14? (lost my beta key again     )
 
Or if it's not in, it might be a good idea anyway...
