Default Dev. Notes: Feb. 2

Hey all,

Been battling some kind of weird stomach bug the Last day or so, and of course took a day off for the Super Bowl (one of the best ever IMO; great game!)

Coliseum: Beginning work on the 1.6 patch. I still need some confirmation that the new patch that adds some music back in works! Please let me know in the appropriate topic, so I can move on to adding stuff.

Several bug fixes are already finished (fixing the 1st fight of next season starting at the end of the Last season's fight I believe is fixed) and the Error 9 when clicking on an enchantment with no primary fighter selected is fixed too. The music and Error 9 end of season bugs should be all taken care of. With the 1.6 release, the game should be pretty rock-solid and stable.

Thanks!

Thanks all...I do feel a little better today, though it seems to have migrated a bit to my chest with a little bit of a sore throat, but the stomach aspect of it is gone (thank heavens!). From what I hear, it's a weird bug going around here right now.

Thanks for the report, Spags!

I really need to hear from people who had sound problems originally on the new patch, then i'll move on and start getting 1.6 ready to go.

I didn't have any problems with the music warping the way it was described in the other Posts or the #9 error. I've put the nomusic patch on and then the new patch and I get music at the opening screen. In the game I hear the sound effects, warrior screams, and button clicks but one thing that is missing is the crowd cheering during the match. The crowd cheers when I begin the match but I thought I remembered the crowd cheering during the match before I put the nomusic patch on.

I've ran through 16 of the 20 day seasons and have only noticed a few problems.

Once I had a warrior die because I used too many enchantments and the program locked when that screen appeared. I was able to reload my Last save after I restarted the program.

I've noticed a glitch during the contract signing phase. Sometimes I don't get the option to try and re-sign a warrior when his contract has expired. I wish I could be more helpful in tracking this one down but it occurs infrequently and catches me off guard. I think it is either with a warrior I have gotten from the academy or a free agent I signed after the initial season they are on the team.

Another weird one is that sometimes when I sign a warrior from the academy, I get a different one in my roster when the new season starts. It has only happened twice. The first time I thought I must have clicked the wrong one, but the next time it happened I was sure I had gotten a different one than the one I chose.

This isn't much to go on, but I'll try to pay closer attention if it happens again.

Question on the game:
Is it better statistically to go normal training on each of the stats for 190 or pay 200 for the experienced warrior training?
I've tried some of both but keep running out of $ before I can make a determination.

A. I didn't put back in the crowd cheering during matches until I was sure the darn thing worked for people having trouble earlier, since it requires some code replacement. I had to actually write my own ActiveX component to get what I needed, a joyous task indeed.

B.Hmm...I did find a little problem just now with the bookkeeping when warriors die due to potion or magic problems in a fight, and fixed it. Maybe that was it.

c. The problem with clicking on a rookie warrior and getting a different one has been fixed. Simple typing bug (if you chose the 5th one, it gave you the 1st one instead). Arrgh.

D. The bug with not getting an option to resign i'm looking into. Should be easy to track down.

Thanks and I welcome any more comments!

PS to Last post: I believe I found the problem with resigning after signing them to contracts the first time, if you play straight through without saving (saving clears the indicator and it works fine, since the indicator is not saved to the file).

I have a special indicator flag set to 1 to tell me whether they have already signed a contract during a negotiation session, so it won't offer you the icon to resign again while they're under contract. The problem is: the indicator isn't ever reset to 0 again, so the icon won't lite up again unless you load an earlier saved game. Arrgh. Sorry.

As far as your training question: The training methods vary according to your warrior's potential. Some warriors respond well to intensive master training, while for some it might be a waste of time. Like in real life, experimenting is about the only way to find out. Master training works slightly better, but can be more tiring on their energy as well, which could be bad if your main guy goes down and you need a replacement.

Thanks for all the bug detective work, Smapdiness!
