Re: TOTAL WAR 1985

I was thinking more off the breakthrough on the north german plain which was mainly defended by the dutch while we all know the red hordes wouldn't stand a chance against out long-haired samsoms....

Hmm, wasn't Hackett the guy who made the dutch look bad in the fight! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: Russian OOB -

You are correct. It does matter for indirect fire density. My bad, I thought that was dependent of actual ROF too, not just theoretical ROF.

So there is 1 factor where theoretical ROF is a...

Re: Russian OOB -

From actual testing:

at experience 120 the GAZ-3937's with ROF 9 all have an actual in game ROF of 5.

at experience 120 the Nona and Vena SP-mortars with ROF 5 all have an actual in game ROF of...

Re: Russian OOB -

No it isn't. Just try it. I just set up a test game for 2005. I bought some 120mm SP mortars GAZ-3937(listed ROF 9), 2S3S Nona SVK's(ROF 5), 2S31 Vena's (ROF 5), 2S9 Nona S (ROF 5).
Every single...

Re: Italian tankettes

As you are likely to know most of the tankette conversions you mention here were field modifications done by the units deploying them. This was done to add some firepower and/or AT capability to the...

Re: Russian OOB -

ROF in the unit stats screen is a bit of a deceptive stat as it has little direct effect on the actual ROF of units in the game. Experience of the unit has a lot more effect. Just try it out by...

Re: Japanese

Light infantry has nothing to do with the amount of 'weight' a trooper carries into battle but refers to the TO&E and the organisation of the larger formation. Light formations have fewer heavy...

Re: Path has chaged-problem

Secure PBEM games need EXACTLY the same pathway (on the same computer) for their duration. So you'll have to put the game in exactly the same path as it was previously. If I understood your comments...

Re: German ranks

As far as I know they fight to the last man (no dispersing of the last few men of a squad) and they don't surrender either. From a quick check of the design history this dates back to spww2v2.

Re: German ranks

Good question. I'm not sure. The japanese were very different from other soldiers. They did tend to go on where others did not. Even though SS troops were often shot when captured, that statement...

Re: German ranks

The 9th was originally part of the kampfgruppe but when they went to Finland the 9th was detached. The rest formed the division, perhaps the 5th was added then to fill out the division with a 3rd...

Figured out what the SS kampfgruppe Nord is all about. That is in fact the 6 SS gebirgsjager division Nord. From what I've found they were a kampfgruppe for a short while before attaining full...

Re: German ranks

Well Chuck, I think you're forgetting two things here. First that most SS divisions raised in the war started out as smaller formations, usually either legions, regiments or brigades before being...

Re: German ranks

Here's a list of all formed Waffen SS 'divisions':

1.SS-Panzer-Division - "Leibstandarte-SS Adolf Hitler"
2.SS-Panzer-Division - "Das Reich" (also "Verfügungstruppe", "Deutschland", "Reich") ...

Unfortunately that's not exactly true about the origins of the SS, although many of the more basic books do mention it like that. It's simpler than the truth and serves to give a SS an even more...
