				 Sombre's Maps (Including NI)
Howdy. I have recently been looking through some old Dom2 maps and many of them are very nice and around the size I like to play on - either side of 100 or so provinces. As many people have pointed out, map editing has changed relatively little and therefore most of these maps will run as is. However many of them seem, to me at least, to need some tweaking. I'm no map guru, I only just fired up the editor for the first time today, but I think I can improve and upate a few of them. So in this thread I'll do just that, covering an updated map in each post, giving credit to the author and uploading the files needed to use it. I hope to include the original .map file, along with my updated ______ Som.map file and I'll also throw in a NI _____ Som.map file too, for those who like No Indy maps (I know I play virtually nothing else).
Do please feel free to post here and point me to solid looking Dom2 maps that could do with a bit of tweaking to nostart settings, underwater race settings, terrain types, population sizes etc. You can also request NI versions of any maps - it would be helpful if you pointed me to the map though.

Anyway, here's what I've done so far.
 Cirlani v1

 Talis v1

 Clash of Titans v1

 Albatha v1

 Urgaia

 Shahrivar v1

 Yalun To v2

#description "A friendly world for friendly enemies. This map was originally made for Dom I and was remade for Dom II by Andrew J. Osborn. It was updated for Dom III by Sombre, changing around possible start locations and tweaking terrain types etc. The central lands of Cirlani are particularly valuable.

85 provinces, 16 of these are under water."

#description "A map originally created for Dom II by Alexander Kon Berner and tweaked for Dom III by Sombre. 39 provinces suitable ONLY for 2 players. Water nations are disabled so you can safely choose random nations and you'll always get land ones. The starting locations never change. The map is good for duels and players wishing to test things out or learn the game without the complications of water or multiple nations."

Zip and image will be up momentarily.

				 Re: TALIS
Are you sure water nations can be disabled? I think the Middle-Earth map is supposed to do that, but it doesn't work. |
