It's actually considered quite weak in multiplayer. It's hostile dominion means that several players gang up against it, and it only has one trick, and it's not even that good of a trick.

It's overpowering in single-player, but many other things are as well. The AI is stupid.

It's also very micromanagement-intensive, and unfortunately, the best way to avoid that is not to play it.
