Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional
What I Would Do Differently:
Having more units helps to keep squads fighting. Having only one mammoth is a bad idea. Having a mammoth and 24 units would't be very good either. Having few mammoths and 4-6 units fares much better. Especially if those few units have high morale. That means either Wingless or Temple Guards for Caelum until you find something more interesting.
Vampire Queens need their boosters in most cases, so both fliers and cavalry can be a hard opponent. She is immortal though, so she can just wear cavalry down as she will be able to cast some of the more important boosters and finish some of them.

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional
Ouch! After reading what Sachmo wrote I understood Gandalf is with his "remember to thank for the free stuff" talk... I critistized this but forgot to thank for it! I think this is really great, especially as a learning tool if some experienced people comment on it... It is a great read, though: fast, simple and still explains why and what you did.
BTW, I don't count myself on those "experienced", although I commented this!

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional
Thanks a lot folks. It's quite fun and it makes me concentrate more on the game. In SP games I tend to just burn through the game till I am confused and then I stop. This will help me play through to an end game of some sorts!
Thanks for the unit tips too Endo!

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional
TURN 19
Turn Results
"...Research complete" - Alteration 4
"...Prophet's power gone" - Good, time for that Seraphine
- Queeny wins the battle easily in the Isle of the Hundred!
- Peace restored at home
Empire Status
- 8 provinces
- Income 424 (T 328)
Turn Orders
- Queeny is to search. I'm hoping that Isle place had so many troops because there was more than just a library there... Which is still good mind.
- Scout goes NE into some woods
- Seraph, scribe and mammoth are put on order.
- Another clam is ordered up.
- Seraphine is ordered to become the Prophet. Hurah! Maybe she will be a whole lot less unlucky than the Last one

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional
TURN 20
Turn Results
"...Two magic sites found" - Nice one Queeny! Another Well of Pestilence. I am reminded at the start of the game my comments on not having to worry too much about population. This is now VERY true! Also, Ten Thousand Things which produces one of each of the elemental gems! Great!
"...Proclomation from Caelum" - no, really?
- Peace restored at home
Empire Status
- 8 provinces
- Income 431 (T 307)
Turn Orders
- I order my new Seraph to the Isle to build that lab so I can get yet more sages.
- Queeny is set to invade Lankwood which has a mere 70 units.
- Scout is sent NW to Stavang, a rich town province it seems.
- I order up some wingless and a mammoth at my two forts (the mammoth will take two turns). I also order up yet another sage.
Comments
For now expanding and increasing my income and forts seems like the best plan. If I get the chance to search for some nice gems I will but I plan to Acashic Record for them later on mostly. Meanwhile I'll also build up my army more. A few more mammoths and some tough wingless infantry should do the trick!

Im enjoying the format. On the one hand I like to encurage the extensive writeups and would love to see one of the more fluent writers do one in book form. On the other hand, I dont have the attention span to read those. This one is a nice option as AARs go.

Liar. I know that you've read mine, which is one of the longest threads on the forum. And as far as well-written stories go, I also know you've read Peter's fine AAR. There's nothing wrong with your attention span. Especially since as a moderator I know you read all the threads.

Watch out, She Knows All! I'll post some more this afternoon.. and I'm going to have to figure out HOW I am going to cast Acashic Record as I recall now that I am not playing Pythium
