	good lord, I dont think you will even catch a self respecting Colonel on the front lines fighting, much less a General.  They have lots of OTHER people of LOWER ranks to go out and do the dieing for them.Quote:

 Perhaps the general would be attached to the group of troops involved in the battle and would survive as long as some of the troops do. THat might be tough to account for with a special avatar though.

 I don't believe that the P&N mod nor devnull mod is really up to this kind of game. 
I feel that Proportions would be best for this "real-life like" game.

 How about someone who wants to be the intel minister?  I don't normally use lots of offensive intel against the AI, but I might covert recon a planet to see what's there or insurrect a troublesome (or valuable)ship.  It would be useful for someone to direct these functions. |

 Well, I've just tested it, and the savegames made in 1.82 don't open in 1.78.
 So you'd have to use screenshots, stories and spreadsheets to find out what's going on.
