AHA!!! THAT explains the problems I've alway had with the installer. I never would have thought of double-clicking the destination folder in the list.

The autoinstaller was finding the "Space Empires IV" folder (i.e. classic), listing that in the text box. SINGLE-clicking the correct "Space Empires IV Gold" folder in the list didn't change the target folder in the text box.
