Re: Simultaneous Movement (PBW) Stellar Manipulation?
"You may also want to place the star on an asteroid field, so that you get a sphereworld with a planet and/or moons.
That type of situation is good for training facilities.
It would also allow your planet to defend against sunbusters with the full benefits of spaceyard and huge cargo space for fighters and such.
"
And you could build the sphereworld components using the faster planetary yards rather than ship shipyards..

Re: Simultaneous Movement (PBW) Stellar Manipulation?
SJ and Phoenix-D, thanks for the very creative suggestions.
I'm curious about the asteroid belt idea. If I build a sun on one, do I automatically get moons? Or do I need to do some kind of planet creation? I've never done stellar manipulation before, so I have no idea what the possibilities are.

Re: Simultaneous Movement (PBW) Stellar Manipulation?
You'd need to use a planet creator to make a planet out of the asteroid belt. You can get the capability to make those well before you get ringworlds or sphereworlds.

Re: Simultaneous Movement (PBW) Stellar Manipulation?
Thanks Phoenix-D. This game is max tech, so I already have the required components for planet building. I'll have to do some experimenting...

Re: Simultaneous Movement (PBW) Stellar Manipulation?
You can still get planet makers a lot faster, because ring and sphereworld components are so expensive.

Re: Simultaneous Movement (PBW) Stellar Manipulation?
Yes, that's true. I'm working on a ringworld generator now, and it's going to be a few years before it's done. I'm trying to coordinate it with the grav plate and cables so that they're all done at the same time (that's alot of maintenance to absorb). That's another thing I won't have to worry about with just a planet builder. I'm curious, what size planet do they build?

Re: Simultaneous Movement (PBW) Stellar Manipulation?
Depends on the level. The largest one can build up to a Huge sized planet; IIRC it depends on the asteroid field just how big a planet you get.
