warp point opening technology - How?
I would like to play a game with no warp points, where you have to research the technology to be able to create one. What is the technology required to do this? Searched the board and have not found this question asked yet. Looked on the technology tree and don't see it unless it is a weapon technology called warp missile. But didn't think it was a weapon technology. Any help would be appreciated. |

It is several levels up the Stellar Manipulation tech area.
 Slick.

Research Astrophysics 1, and then Stellar Manipulation 3. That gives you WP Opener I (by some different name ofc) and WP Closer. Levels 4-7 of SM give a new level of WP Opener with greater range. |

On the same subject - can you open a warp to an unexplored system? |

I think you can do that... you can always test it! |

Yes you can, I've done it before...it's just that you have no idea what/whom may be on the other side. It can be a nasty surprise to open a WP and have it lead into someone's (very well established) home system...if you aren't anticipating that scenario, it hurts...trust meQuote:

Well thats why you should have a fleet with the WP Opener. Send it in to glass their system if need be! |

The *cautious* way to use warp openers is to also use warp closers. On the same turn, you can open a warp point, send a fleet through and then close the warp point. Talk about your ultimate hit and run technique... |

 OT:
Anybody know who this idiot is who gives newcomers like Tobiasds a 1 star rating for asking a decent question. Does not work well with the image off a friendly forum.

Whoever you are:
Stop it. It's not funny, it just proves your a moron.

Thanks for all the good answers and just curious how the rating system works. Does someone who rates you get to remain anonymous? |
