An added question would be,

Q Is this forum your home page?
Q Do you go through withdrawls when it is down?
Q Do you post more than five times an hour?
Q Do you read this forum at work?
Q Do you wish you worked at this forum?

LOL, We need another 12 step program in addition to our current 12 Step Program for SEIV addiction.

I use Notepad to hide yahoo messenger. I'll type the message in notepad, cut, Alt Tab, then paste.

I have to be fast. I think I will stick to using the remote office I found.

Clearly we all have a problem here. The question is do we want to fix it.

Problem? Who's got a problem? What's the problem with this? I don't see anything wrong with this behavior. I'm not addicted...

LOL! In response to all of Atrocities' questions: Yes.

As for lynx- yeah, it was a great browser. Only trouble is that ppl here would recognise it, being of a technical nature. What I need is a browser that's disguised as Excel or word.

Actually, you can display web pages in Word, can't you?

Hmmm...

I just got the weirdest idea... why not do an 'office mod' for SEIV ? Change the space backgrounds to white. Change the planets, etc. images to look like lines of code/text/numbers. Change report images and speech files so they look like work but you still know what they mean.

Hmmm... better yet, call this the 'boss mod' !!

Now that you mention it Word does have a Web toolbar but when you go to a web site it becomes IE. You can hit the back button an it will revert to Word.

Ugh, but browsing in word? *sick face* no, no, no bad! and pages don't display correctluy, and . . . bad!

alt-F4 is faster than alt-tab sometimes, with way too many windows open, alt-tab can take a second to rearrange things. this is especially true of games that alter screen resolution. alt-f4 sometimes leaves your screen in the wrong resolution, but it does kill programs, dead, and fast (useful if the boss knows to look at the task bar and gets suspicipious if it is minimized off the screen . . . )

Also, check out www.sysinternals.com
Process Explorerer is basically an enhanced task manager, only it does a better job of killing programs, can kill an IE window and ALL of its decendants cleanly (popup recursion anyone?), always gets all the memory back (in this respect it is better than the Win 95/98 taskman, which sometimes lost memory when it force closed a program), and it lets you browse all file handles and active DLLs, and even kill them individually without dirupting the program! (provided it can handle the loss) For example, you have a P2P program, you've got a great connection to one file you want, and you want to remove one completed file from your shared dir. but horror of horrors, people are d/ling that file, and you can't move it while its being accessed! even if you aren't able to block them, you can use Process explorer to kill the file handle, then snatch the file, and poof, clean extraction, and the client keeps running as happily as ever!

Also good for catching spyware, and since it is ~120k, it fits on a disk and doesn't require an install . . . so it can be imported to almost any system and run from the disk. Poof, you have access to program manager capability, whether you have those privileges on the system or not !
(it also lets you see processes that the program manager hides from you, although it has no service viewer)

Also, they make internet monitors and registry monitors, good for catching spyware, employee-monitoring-ware, etc.

All of them are free too. Download them toady! They sell professional Versions with some sort of improvements, but I've never really found the free Versions to be lacking in any way . . . try em out!

No, i was not paid for this review . . . if only . . . *sigh* . . . anyway, they probably wouldn't want to advertize their features quite this way . . .
