beware of floating eyes, never hit them unless you're blind (and can sense the by other means), attack them with a ranged weapon and eat theirs bodies since they have magic properties.

You're also fine when the floating eye is blind. Cream pies (From Keyston Kops, sometimes in food stores, rarely in general stores [throw them]), expensive cameras (From Tourists, sometimes in general stores, sometimes in tool shops), lightning (wand or spell), and wands of blindness are good for that.

I still find new and exciting ways to die in Nethack . Not long ago I got quite deep into the dungeon for the first time, and ran into a troll. After killing it for the fifth time I finally noticed it had a tendency to rise from the dead. So I decided to eat it, to dispose of the body.

You eat a troll corpse.
The bite covered troll rises from the dead.
you hit the troll.
you hit the troll.
You kill the troll.
There is a partly eaten troll corpse here, eat it (y/n):yes
You have trouble getting it all down. continue? (y/n): yes
You choke on the troll corpse. you die.
do you want your possessions identified?

And I didn't even know you could choke on your food

Tinning kits work great for fixing trolls. Once they are canned, they never come back.

Also, some pets (like purple worms or trappers) eat enemies whole; this also gets rid of trolls.

Stoning also works - cockatrice eggs (throw them), wielded or thrown (with gloves! - very important!) cockatrice corpse, or a pet cockatrice do this.

Also, anything a type of pet can do, you can do if polymorphed into that form.
