What ever happened to the File Editor?
Someone a couple of months ago, mentioned something about making an editor to making modding all the text files easier. If anyone has information let me know. Thanks. |

Aaron has repeatedly said that it isn't needed and that this way is more powerful (In other non-PR words he doesn't like the idea) But if there is ALOT of demand for it then he would make one sometime later when the patching near completion. Basicly I havn't seen hardly any demand for it don't think it will ever happen.

 Darwin,
I'm talking about an issue that was brought up by a member of this board. I remember seeing a couple of Posts in Jan. that said that there were two people working on this project. I was just curious if they had decided not to do it. I'd rather have MM work out the rest of the bugs and improve ai not make a file editor.

Ahh, Understood, I've thought about doing it myself but only for certain AI files.

All you would have to do would be to make a fancy text editor that would search through the files and add/replace things. Not too hard I would think.

I have to say that Aaron is too busy to support two things at once (bugs patches etc)So some enterprising person could make it.

Re: What ever happened to the File Editor?
 Sundevil,
Look at Posts here in the forum here in January and early February. I think there was a forum post with an editor link posted by a couple of guys.

You might find it useful. Think it edited the data files but couldn't add new components at that time. If you find it they may have updated it.
