Trust me when I say that I would never intentionally upload a file that was read-only. But I have seen it where this has happened. Why it does is beyond me, some windows OS glitch or something. Most frustrating to say the least.

It is because some people use archive utilities that are set to make the zips read only by default, not because of the server. Almost all of the read only files have been gotten off of Shrapnel, which certainly does not set files on it to read only.

It makes it a PITA to edit a file, such as a graphic or data file etc...!

You can not overwrite them, such as when downloading a new Version of a file. |
