NO, I don't think so - until it moves

I think the ship can safely move and exit the sector. It will just get hit if it moves back into the sector.

I just tested it now, pretty suprised by the result. I put a space station and 13 small mines in orbit. I gifted the space station to another player. Had him declare war ane enter the sector. Boom. Destroyed the ship, not the base, and there were mines left over.
So in that case at least, a stationary ship doesn't get hit by mines.

Re: Mines & treties.... A few questions
Why is that surprising? It makes sense to me. Why would a ship that is not moving be destroyed by mines?

Re: Mines & treties.... A few questions
it still has hostile ID. i doubt mines are just as primitive unmovable objects as today's mines are. besides, even today not all are. a ship has other readings that heat from engines, you know.

Re: Mines & treties.... A few questions
Like Taera said. Also tried it again with mobile ships. Same result.
I noticed something else in this case. I captured a minesweeper. I figured there were mines in the sector so I used to minesweep button. Went a sector away and came back. Then it swept mines, and only the minesweeper took damage.
AFAICT, the sweep mines button doesn't work if the ship doesn't move.
